sugarysunflower Posted yesterday at 09:28 PM Posted yesterday at 09:28 PM Is there a similar trend expected for the other big Xmas songs, like Brenda and Wham?

DemDam92 Posted yesterday at 09:42 PM Posted yesterday at 09:42 PM Very soon: Her 3rd song of the decade Most certified song of all times Most weeks at #1 Merry Xmas album going Diamond and further more THE BIGGEST SONG OF ALL TIME. 6
Night Howler Posted yesterday at 09:51 PM Posted yesterday at 09:51 PM Iconic, but at the same time this will probably override the rest of her musical legacy in the long term (not right now, she still has her classics, but in like 30 years she'll be pretty much just remembered for her xmas song, like Brenda today). 2

She's gonna be nearly 90 in 30 years, like tf should she care lol 4

I think she's good 3
CottageHore Posted yesterday at 10:05 PM Posted yesterday at 10:05 PM Not a single other has ever or will ever achieve what Mariah has achieved. Truly a once in humanity smash this classic is! (Yet I haven't listened to this once this season cuz it's so overplayed. But the So So Def remix has had a few spins)?

And that won't erase her enormous, documented impact on popular music from merging R&B, hip hop, and pop to implementing complex melisma into pop music to popularizing collabs, to redefining remixes to her songwriting to her whistle register etc. etc. Not to mention her enormous career sales and countless records – all things other acts don't have. Having the biggest female song of all–time is the cherry on top. 3

Roberto Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago It will the biggest song ever at some point. The fact it doesn't sound dated helps a lot.

Mariah will never have to worry about her non-Christmas legacy being washed out. She was the defining music artist of arguably the greatest music decade ever. She comfortably resides on the all-time Mount Rushmore of female Pop musicians (alongside Madonna/Whitney/Janet). Admittedly the Christmas thing is starting to define her in the eyes of younger generations, but those generations will eventually grow up and discover the likes of Daydream/Butterfly/Emancipation etc. Edited 21 hours ago by LikeATattoo 1
