Kate built her career on weaving literature, politics, philosophy, and a fascination with nature into her lyrics :giraffe: she really started getting blatantly political with her third album, Never for Ever

then on The Dreaming she started challenging herself to depths most artists wouldn't ever dare to dream of

then diving into gender inequality and the struggle of understanding one another

and then of course she used sci-fi tales to smoothly bring in discussion of technological advances and potential into her lyrics!

Most of my faves have political songs. It's a common theme in Country, Americana, Folk and Rock Music.

Other than Waves, Wilde Side is probably Normani's most environmentally-conscious song to date. I think there have been multiple interpretations of this track as a deep ecology song because it encourages embracing our natural, true selves, which connects to the idea of living in harmony with nature. Essentially, the themes of freedom and self-expression remind us of the importance of reconnecting with the environment, and it aims to inspire people to live more sustainably and take better care of the planet, helping to reduce the effects of climate change.

Yes, Billie is an advocate for climate and social causes through her art but more so through political action like actively using her platform to spread awareness on these issues.

To add to that, the subtle but iconic crack on the helicopter glass in the music video, is actually symbolic of how humans have abused mother Earth's resources by cracking through her for oil, gold, etc

Normani suggests a return to a simpler, almost primitive lifestyle hence why she later appears naked and closes out her New World manifesto with her vision of what modern society should look like with the aethereal final set. A stark difference from the overstylized and meticulously detailed first set and the post-industrial mid-section.

Her mind tbh :clap3:
