the misogyny off. instead of arguing about how who's the most misogynistic, how about we just stop being hateful towards women regardless if you're raping/killing them or not :deadbanana4:  gay, straight, bi, tri or hi, most men prove that at the end of the day they're still a man. the only difference is the approach.

End thread.

I don't exactly understand what you mean by the last part. But yes, I agree, this "assumption" of solidarity is misleading. Though expecting someone to "not be misogynistic" is... the bare minimum?

And I definitely agree everyone even should be against misogyny please don't think I'm making excuses I promise I'm not.

And yes, straight women aren't saints but the topic was misogyny and their victimization. We can get into how straight women have had a massive role in upholding patriarchy, at the expense of equality for women and LGBTQ+ communities, another day.

I don't know if I'm explaining myself properly but I was trying to relay this exact point gay men and lesbians would like to exist outside of heteronormativity. Wht stopping heterosexual women from choosing the safety of patriarchal "protection"  over our liberation when they don't even do it for their fellow women.

yeah... this kind of cognitive dissonance isn't unique to any one demographic, unfortunately. you can be a person of color and still be racist. you can be LGBTQ+ yet transphobic. you can be a woman and uphold patriarchy. you can be working class and somehow mourn a health insurance scammer CEO.

people choose proximity to the oppressor (white cis het men) over liberation. time and time again.

Counterpoint: Straight women are just as homophobic as straight men.

This is giving homophobia, internal or not

Gays, being men, do have a misogyny problem, but to say it's worse than straight men is… ****ing hilarious. Gay men idolize women and some even model their personalities off of them. Women are some of our strongest allies in our lives and a lot of us see them as a source of empowerment or even safety.

Many straight men don't even respect women on the same level as men. At best, they want to objectify them and "protect" them as one would protect an object, which is really just code for control them.

Dumb ass debate.

This is true and it's mostly because they think they're one of the girls and have a pass to say the most misogynistic things , an easy example would be all the gay men I've met who've grimissed at how disgusting women's vaginas are . Worst is you'll never convince them that what they're saying is wrong/misogynistic:rip:

All of them, really? That never happened to me, maybe you are attracting the wrong crowd?

It's difficult to compare because gay men and straight men are misogynistic to women in different ways.

Gay people saying Demi Lovato is fat isn't mysogyny

I'm sure they would think Elon Musk is fat too

Are gay men supposed to like vaginas now? What!? You can't be in that dire need for male validation and attention that you expect gay men to like ******. Would you scold a lesbian for being averse to penises?

stupid question, it's not a competition qnd we shouldn't be thinking of misogyny in this way

Spoiler

but if it were a competition straight men would definitely win

There is an obvious and abhorrent issue with misogyny among gay men — it's objectifying and gross, and it hasn't been tackled in a meaningful way. But let's be adults and look beyond Twitter hot takes. Anyone who works in domestic violence case work will tell you without question straight men pose the more deadly threat to the safety and wellbeing of women.

If you believe that you're chronically online and the only thing you consume is twitter stan.

Like others have stated, while I do believe that some gay men can be misogynistic, to say that they are more misogynistic than straight men is baffling to me. The stuff straight men have and continue to do and say to woman on a much larger scale speaks for itself. An example out of the many is the saying "Your body, my choice" when trump won. Do people really think gay men were the ones saying that...

Everyone on the internet does this. Why are only gays getting heat for it lately? :deadbanana2:

I'm a gay man talking to gay people on this forum. Imma give my own community **** for this when we're in a vacuum like this site.  If I still had a Twitter account I'd probably reply to that tweet saying how incorrect it is.

No.

Straight women can be pretty homophobic though and they feel *very* comfortable about it. That is the conversation that should be happening instead.

The fact that a 17 year old can tweet that so matter of factly and go viral :mazen:

It's bad on both sides in different ways

I see what she was trying to say in a way cause gay men are vile towards women in their own right and different ways, but I still dont think its anything close to the mindset and ways of a majority of straight men.

the f*cking straight boys who live in the building I work at and are always talking about "b*tches" and "sl*ts" and never say "girls" or "women" are just one reason I have to go with straight men being more misogynistic. sorry but no, gay men are misogynistic a lot of the time but let's not rewrite history here. straight men will always be the most misogynistic in general.

I'm sorry but you'll NEVER make me believe Gay Men are more misogynistic than Str8 Men. PLEASE BE SO FORREAL RN. Gay Men aren't the ones r*ping these women at an alarming rate. They're not the ones having SA charges against them every f*cking week in the news.

Yes Gay men CAN most definitely be misogynistic, and I've seen it happen before my eyes many times. Just look at the amount of femme-shaming that goes on to even our OWN kind. But these internalized homophobic repressed a** Gays won't for a second make me believe this BS. And granted a lot of these Gays only count something as "misogynistic" when it happens to a YT woman but will barely bat an eye when it comes to women of color… yeah, good tf BYE! :deadbanana2:

Not only that, these Str8 Men are being misogynistic in positions of POWER. Gay Men don't even have nearrr the same amount of privilege as they do, or even as much as some women do.

Women are misogynistic against men too, but y'all don't wanna hear that conversation. There are some genuinely kind men at my work that are leaders and vocally opinionated. All the women HATE these men. No matter how respectful the man is. They're so intimidated by a man in charge that just wants to lead as he's supposed to. They call these men cocky, arrogant, and all sorts of names for simply having confidence. Let's talk about a 40 year old man sitting down at a park bench minding his business and immediately being labeled a pedo or a creep for simply existing. It goes both ways. Women aren't a minority. They get treated like one at times but they are not a minority.

It's funny cuz this narrative is largely pushed By gay men themselves..

Gays are deffo not more misogynistic than straights, but this Stan stuff really ruined the brains and logic of a lot of people about these stuff..

Girl they do it for retweets and it's honestly weird af. And I'm guessing these same people agreeing with it are also the same Straight Men that collectively lured a Gay Man and nearly beat him to death too not too long ago.
Like be SOOO FORREAL right now! :deadbanana2:
