KahnumDash Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago i don't think it's gay men beating them up after their favourite sports team lose, so i'll just leave it there.
loveisdead9582 Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Merriam-Webster defines misogyny as: hatred of, aversion to, or prejudice against women. The etymology for Misogyny is also very similar to the word 'sexism'. To be quite honest, gay men really only potentially fall into one of these categories - the "aversion to". While there are certainly some gay men out there who would potentially fall into all three, the general gay populace doesn't seek to take away women's rights. The majority of the gay populace also doesn't target women based on their sex/gender identity as targets of SA/Murder - which could be considered a hate crime. I think some people have seen/heard an overly loud minority - especially here on a website that focuses on pop music (specifically female pop artists) - and have forgotten that this is not the real world. While making a comment about someone's appearance isn't exactly polite, it's not inherently misogynistic. If that individual targets only women in giving negative feedback about one's appearance however, then it would be. TL;DR - those of you who sincerely think that gay men are more misogynistic than straight men need a reality check. Spoiler We could have a discussion on the rise of misandry and homophobia (which have been demonstrated many times in this thread even) but that's a whole different conversation I don't think people are ready for. 1
brazil Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Gay men will be the first the defend women though, especially in cases like Amber Heard vs. Jhonny Depp, 2007 Britney, and so on, while straight men and many times straight women will attack other women, and in 15 years will do a 180 and and say "why were we so mean". Yes, gay men can be misogynistic but so can straight women for that matter. We shouldn't make judgment based on a tweet by a mannerless gay 5
Bitter Aging Twink Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Gay men can be incredibly misogynistic, sure, but it's basically impossible for gay men's misogyny to be more damaging than straight women's homophobia because straight women are the single largest demographic group on the entire planet, comprising 51% of the global population. Meanwhile, gay men only make up about 3% of the entire world population, so statistically-speaking, it's impossible for us to oppress women in any meaningful way. If you try to make that argument, it's basically equivalent to saying Muslims are oppressing Christians in the USA, since Muslims make up 2-3% of the USA's populations while Christians make up about half. It's a silly, nonsensical argument, designed to create division. Some interesting things to think about: There are 64 countries where it's illegal to even exist as a gay man, while there are 0 countries where it's illegal to exist as a woman. Out of these 64 countries, 60% of them only punish gay men, while giving lesbians no punishment whatsoever. In 12 countries, there is a death penalty for any man who's even suspected of being a gay man. There are zero countries that impose the death penalty on someone for being a woman. Straight women are treated better in almost every country than gay men. Lesbians are also treated better in almost every country than gay men. In homophobic countries, lesbians generally receive prison sentences and "reforming" sessions, meanwhile gay men are brutally and publicly tortured and thrown off buildings. To claim that gay men are somehow more misogynistic than straight men is a complete joke. Straight men literally invented misogyny. Tell me, who are the ones that r*pe women, beat the s**t out of them in 99% of domestic violence cases, perform genital mutilation on them at birth, force them to stay home and do countless hours of unpaid labor, restrict their access to birth control and reproductive care, pay them less money than men, and force them to give birth against their own will? Who teaches them that they are meant to be "submissive" to straight men and enshrines this doctrine into almost every major world religion? Let me give you a hint: it's not gay men! Now tell me, what's the worst thing that your average gay man has done to a woman? Made a catty comment about her appearance? Told her she looked bad in that dress? I mean, grow up! That's just life, and women say far worse things to other women than that! If I had to rank the "worst groups" towards women in order, I would say this: Straight men (I explained it above - they are extremely dangerous to women) Lesbians (lesbian relationships have the highest rate of domestic violence amongst all types of relationships - even higher than the rate of domestic violence in straight male/female relationships. The CDC has stated that 43.8% of lesbian women reported experiencing physical violence, stalking, or rape by one of their female partners.) Straight women (they love to tear other women down and destroy them - typically they do this through reputation destruction and ****-shaming of other women. Since straight women make up 51% of the population, their destruction is much more far-reaching than anything a gay man could do.) Gay men (most gay men worship the ground that women walk on, and the worst thing they'll do to a woman is make a catty comment about her appearance that holds no value in the real world, since society doesn't respect gay men or take our opinions seriously anyway. In fact, if we do say anything remotely critical of a woman, we get shamed for being misogynists, when in fact we are probably the single most harmless group towards women overall). 3 4
Subzero Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Putting gay men bashing someone's make-up to straight men's actual brutality in the same ballpark is insane brain rot The internet, Twitter especially, truly is humanity's biggest mistake 1
ATRL Moderator Bloo Posted 12 hours ago ATRL Moderator Posted 12 hours ago Gay men don’t r*pe, murder, abuse, and ruffy women. So no. Gay men also do not complain nonstop about declining infertility and the need to impregnate women to protect society and promote their own genes—reducing women to just giving birth. Gay men can be misogynistic. Anyone can, even other women. But this claim is insane. 5
katara Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago (edited) Oh henny you have never heard how str8 men talk about women when they are only among other str8 men. Them getting reduced to their p*ssy is the best case scenario in that environment. I am convinced str8 men loathe women in general even though they are sexually attracted to them and need them for procreation. Edited 12 hours ago by katara 6
Headlock Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Gay men certainly can be misogynistic but please be serious, straight men struggle to view women as human beings, they are vile 1
Gladiator Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago (edited) There's a huge difference between the kiis shared between some gay men (and only a fraction of them considering there's a huge part of the gay men demographic that don't even care about the stuff that goes on in stan world, etc.) in stan culture with how they speak about prominent women entertainment figures and the deep rooted misogyny that interlopes a large fraction of straight men with how they view and treat the women they actually know and are in relationships with. KingWitch Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago This is true and it's mostly because they think they're one of the girls and have a pass to say the most misogynistic things , an easy example would be all the gay men I've met who've grimissed at how disgusting women's vaginas are . Worst is you'll never convince them that what they're saying is wrong/misogynistic 2
Gov Hooka Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Nonsensical FALSE comparison aside I'm getting sick and tired of gay men feeling the need to talk about women's appearances so brashly. Enough 1 1

dumbsparce Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago (edited) The biggest misogynists I've ever come across to are neither gay nor straight men. Let's just put it that way. Edited 11 hours ago by dumbsparce
cOe Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago I've hung around both and definitely straight men. True there are messy misogynistic gay men but even in the online department straight men are more messy too. The whole "insert celebrity" is "mid" trend, "the wall" or other bs
Sugden Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago yeah cause gay men calling sabrina ugly is the same as straight men who literally are ou here burning woman alive
Valgorie Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Twitter will have you believing misogyny is just being mean to women. 2
Lagerfeld Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Gays want women to slay that's why they're so hard on them. Straight men are just misogynistic.
Onyxmage Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Of course this would go viral on an alt right website.
kimberly Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago gay men are, on average, misogynistic. because all men can be (and most men are, regardless of sexual orientation) misogynistic. that said, gay men are nowhere near as harmful or dangerous. I think this sort of "thinking" comes from the idea that there should be solidarity between (straight) women and gay men, since both are attracted to men. that connection doesn't strip away gay men's misogyny. the bar for straight men is already in hell. TL;DR — straight men are clearly more misogynistic, but misogyny is more surprising when it comes from gay men.

So are heterosexual women and yet women like Phyllis Schlafly and her conservative ilk exists. If there is barely any major unity amongst women why is it expected of gay men? We don't really have any stake in female liberation or heterosexuality. If anything gay men would like to divest from it and have tried to but unfortunately we live in a heteronormative society where only straight men benefit directly and queer to a point indirectly.
burninredhot Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago (edited) This is simply not true. Yes gay men get way too nasty sometimes while critiquing women but that's nothing compared to vile sh*t like "your body my choice" Edited 10 hours ago by burninredhot
Orsay Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago why it gotta be a misogyny competition ? like, these conversations are so unproductive, the online generation really has an issue with ID politics obsession 2

I don't exactly understand what you mean by the last part. But yes, I agree, this "assumption" of solidarity is misleading. Though expecting someone to "not be misogynistic" is... the bare minimum? It's based on a fact of life — gay men love straight women (even idolize them — Mariah, Kylie, Bey, Taylor etc...) and straight women love gay men (because of the assumed safety) in a very superficial way. Of course no one group is monolithic but speaking generally. If you're alone in the forest as a woman, you'd rather run into a gay man than a straight man (or a bear). And yes, straight women aren't saints but the topic was misogyny and their victimization. We can get into how straight women have had a massive role in upholding patriarchy, at the expense of equality for women and LGBTQ+ communities, another day.
Yayo94 Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Everyone is misogynistic, gay straight bi trans man woman non binary. Every individual has the power to be terrible
Mezter Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Many gay men are very misogynistic and should be called out. However claiming that the entirety of the gay community is more misogynistic than Straight men over a joke about Sabrina's make up is actually mental illness... 1
