Can we talk about the Mariah freeze that is about to come in a few years?

AIWFCIY is on track for an 18th week at #1 on Hot 100 next week, and it already broke Lil Nas' record for most weeks atop the Streaming Songs Chart :rip:

- It will tie most weeks in Top 2 next week
- By late 2025, it will have most weeks in Top 3 as well as most weeks atop the Hot 100
- By late 2028, it will have most weeks in Top 5
- By late 2028, it will also have most weeks in Top 10
- By late 2029, it will have most weeks on the Hot 100
- By then, AIWFCIY will also be the #1 song on Billboard Hot 100 All Time

Mariah will have almost all of these records on lock by end of this decade (assuming BB doesn't make any change in its rules)

Are its stream numbers bigger this year than in 2023? Just asking.

queen!

that said, I wish billboard made a rule where it halved radio points for Xmas songs (not that it would make much of a difference since the song is smashing on streaming and sales too)! it's just it would give more of a competitive edge for other non holiday songs to do well during this period too

yeah but album boms only last for one week or two...Xmas songs smash for like a month and a half and its always the same songs so it does get kinda boring.

I am personally someone who supports Xmas songs being allowed to chart (i know billboard blocked them for decades) but if a song is popular then it should chart regardless of if its a holiday song or not so i am glad billboard changed that dumb rule BUT i would like to see holiday songs radio points either be halved or not count at all since they are kinda just played in a default manner

Ask a random on the street do they know of all i want for Christmas is you, everyone knows,

Ask them if they know High infidelity by taylor swift and watch as a blank expression stares back at you. Now which one is the actual hit song?

:rip: sis did u not read what I said? this response has nothing to do with what we're talking about (and I agree...obviously no one in the GP knows high Infidelity or most album tracks in general).

They should remove radio completely tbh. I doubt it would change anything about AIWFCIY being #1 but it's because of radio that Santa Tell Me and Underneath the Tree struggled to enter the Top 10 for years.

This song doesn't even have the lead over the other Christmas songs that it used to have. Every year more people get tired of it being constantly shoved down their throats. I think Last Christmas will take over as the biggest Christmas song eventually.

Gays should rally behind Last Christmas next year since Brenda has failed. Enough is enough, Mariah.

It's called seasonal demand, a seasonal demand your fave tried to profit of and couldn't.

We need a rule change, it is idiotic that you have these ancient songs charting high for the Christmas week.
