Xtina23 Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago she was taking a selfie and barely singing towards the end. let's talk about the lack of performance to begin with instead....

Songs like On and On, Back to You, To Last, Butterflies definitely take a bit of the Aaliyah approach (vocally and sonically). She says Aaliyah is her biggest influence (0:36). https://www.instagram.com/reel/DCOhv7VusG0/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== And here she is thanking Aaliyah and saying she wore her dress to honor her at the 2024 VMAs. Songs like Jump may have more of a Rihanna influence but I think those comparisons are even more of a reach (and a bit ignorant because African influence ≠ Caribbean influence). Cause the comparison is getting tired. Especially when a lot of her debut is being modeled as Beyoncé's during Dangerously In Love era. Just look at BOTH of their debut album covers. 1
Elementary Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago She's literally a one hit wonder. Do you expect her to bring masses of people to sing along?
Gojira Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago The song was pretty dull so they were acting accordingly.

Y'all dtm on Tyla. She's just getting started.

Lots of crowds do this, hence the viral Rihanna dancing to We Belong Together by herself clip going viral. In Nigeria? Rihanna (Madonnaughter) Beyonce (Jandaughter) Janets influence on Bey is so little compared to the influence Prince, MJ, and Tina Turner have had. Even Diana has more impact on Bey

Sis she is nothing like Aaliyah either visually or sonically I'm sorry. She can like her, but they share nothing in common. Don't even dance or dress similar which are things Aaliyah was renowned for. If anyone was to be compared to Aaliyah it would definitely be Normani who even sampled her music. I can imagine Tyla singing It's Whatever, I Care 4 U, I Refuse, Journey to the Past, At Your Best, The One I Gave My Heart To, Rock the Boat and the list goes on. They have beautiful soft voices and they can be sensual without being straight up vulgar or tacky. Honestly I wouldn't like Tyla so much if she was just the Water lady, her new single Tears is also very beautiful and reminds me of the way Aaliyah used to deliver ballads. Agree to disagree, sis. I do think Tyla has her own unique style but you don't have to be a clone of someone to have been influenced by them. Edited 5 hours ago by ChooseyLover
