Should The Weeknd make a rock album?

I feel like his natural progression would be to ditch the synth pop and dark rnb and to try melodically driven rock. Like the rock that would sound good on an anime compilation video or opening.

What do you think?

Idk about that, but I would love to hear him do some SZA/Frank Ocean alternative R&B.

No and no country either

I think the synth pop is a little overdone with him now so rock could be an interesting pivot, but I second a return to  R&B and experimenting with that. It could be cool if he adds some rock elements on a song maybe, but I don't think his voice suits the genre.

Pretty sure he'll drop his current sound after Hurry Up Tomorrow, as it wraps the trilogy started with After Hours.

Yeah he should go back to pure experimental R&B, but in its full weird and unconventional glory. Kiss Land and BBTMM suffered tremendously from him forcing his old sound to be more comercial leaning.

He needs to make Alt-R&B again, the synth pop tunes are starting to get a little worn out now.

Honestly I think his voice is too thin to sound good with rock. His voice doesn't have the weight to really carry a rock record. Unless you mean like pop rock ala maroon 5

I would like to see him go more rnb. I LOVE him and max together but I HATED that dancing in the flames song

Yes thank you!! With how his recent singles have been performing he's probably past his popularity peak now and it'd be more beneficial to drop the popstar act and return to being completely experimental and making non-mainstream music again. That's where his artistry is at its best.

no, he's coming for his music peak once the synthpop trilogy ends. back to his roots hopefully :clap3:

His voice would not work that well with rock. Unless it's a mix of various genres.

no he needa return to making alternative r&b music.

He can try to make a song like Ashanti's Only U

Yes idk if he could but if he did I'd probably start being a fan

Kinda like when mgk shifted I became a fan :dies:

But idk if the weeknd has the vocals for it

for one era sure. but not for good. as others mentioned, his voice isn't heavy enough to carry it properly but im interested to hear how it would sound.
