Take a look at all the companies and Israel lobby groups that campaigned for the ban before Biden signed it into law in April 2024. They couldn't get it done prior w/ Democratic votes under Trump, so they used the anti-Israel messaging to move the needle in an election year.

 

The Democrats needed funding for the election, so they hid the TikTok ban under an aid bill for Israel and Ukraine. Had a Democratic senator co-sign it to wield influence on the caucus, get it passed, and have Biden immediately sign it into law. The Dems could've also fillerbustered the bill since they had the majority in the senate. They chose not do so because of AIPAC and the ADL, plus US tech companies wanting to destroy TikTok's market share. Fun Fact:

 

Republican Congresswoman Majorie Taylor Greene voted against the ban on TikTok.

The biggest takeaway here for me is that Trump (good thing?!) doesn't give a **** about Israel because Jeff Yass' money beat out AIPAC's  

 

Yet he'll still get AIPAC's credit because the 90 day extension doesn't do anything regarding the divestment  I hate it here

People saying that Trump caused the tiktok ban are so disingenuous, sorry but nope. Just because he was first to want it banned cuz he is anti China doesn't mean he caused the ban. We all know why Tiktok ban was unanimously voted in favor by both sides. F#ck the dems, they deserve this, Trump played them again and yes he is no hero, but he will look like one to a lot of people, because of all of these corrupt mfckers lmfao, absolute idiots. Biden signed the bill into law last year and now he acts surprised.. 

 

You can only say it was Trump's fault in the first place if the dems had voted against the tiktok ban. And if it was simply Trump's wish to get tiktok banned, the dems would vote NO obviously.
