The way the government is just playing games…:deadbanana4:

Seriously even if they were thanking Biden I would still be terrified.

This fealty all these corporations are showing to Trump isn't specific to him, there's a very clear shift happening in how corporations and government are interacting. They've always worked in tandem, but now they're ready to take it to the next level.

Every one of these companies bowing to Trump. During his first term, there were checks in place at the federal level as well as on these platforms. Now the leaders of these companies are actively working with him to make themselves and him wealthier than ever. The democrats also seem to have just given up and it's really ******* insane and scary to watch.

Of course they will. As long as they have their brain rot apps and can escape reality they are happy.

This whole situation is entirely ****** up.  It's clear now this joke of a "ban" was orchestrated to manipulate the country into thinking Trump is a hero.  Nobody should be celebrating this pro-Trump/conservative propaganda app anymore.

@Vermillion This video largely does go over the timeline of why banning TikTok came back up as an issue of concern In 2023.

(I never heard before the Nikki Haley quote of "for every 30 minutes a user spends on TikTok, they become 17% more antisemitic" lfgnbkjfgn)

A speed-run of the dates and timeline cited below:

  • August 2020 - Trump signs EO ordering ByteDance to divest from TT in 45 days citing natural security concerns
  • October 2020 - Federal judge grants ByteDance's preliminary injunction delaying Trump's EO from taking effect
  • November 2020 - Joe Biden defeats Donald Trump in the presidential election
  • --
  • January 2021 - Joe Biden takes office
  • June 2021 - Joe Biden signs EO effectively undoing Trump's original EO ordering ByteDance to divest from TikTok
  • ---
  • October 2023 - 10/07 and Israel invasion into Gaza occurs
  • November 2023 - Audio is leaked of ADL head saying Israel has an optics problem on TikTok and something needs to be done to address it
  • November 2023 - Republican candidates at the Trump-free primary debate call for banning TikTok, citing false study by a Zionist tech executive claiming TikTok fuels antisemitism in the US
  • December 2023 - 40+ tech executives send letter to the CEO of TikTok over alleged antisemitism on the platform and the popularity of pro-Palestinian videos
  • ---
  • March 2024 - Rep. Mike Gallagher (R) (WI-8) introduces legislation H.R. 7521 claiming ByteDance poses a security risk to American national security. This legislation is written with the help of Jacob Helberg, a self-identified Zionist and consultant for the Peter Thiel-owned defense contractor Palantir.
  • March 2024 - Jewish Federations of North America endorse H.R. 7521, calling for its passing, claiming TikTok proliferates antisemitism as a platform
  • March 2024 - H.R. 7521 is passed in the House with bipartisan support (Yes - 155 D, 197 R, No - 50 D, 15 R).
  • April 2024 - Senate passes their version of H.R. 7521 and the bill is signed into law the next day by Joe Biden.
  • April 2024 - Rep. Mike Gallagher resigns from the House as a representative.
  • May 2024 - Rep. Mike Gallagher announces he will be the new executive Head of Defense for weapons contractor Palantir.
  • May 2024 - Sen. Mitt Romney at a forum with the McCain Institute featuring Sec. of State Anthony Blinken attributes the fast pace passing of the bill to force ByteDance to divest from TikTok to the "overwhelming amount of pro-Palestinian videos on the platform" and why the idea to ban it was so popular in Congress.

The Trump-TikTok timeline might go back a little further than August 2020. I'm sure some people remember this one from the 2020 election campaign.

TikTok Teens and K-Pop Stans Say They Sank Trump Rally

Quote

President Trump's campaign promised huge crowds at his rally in Tulsa, Okla., on Saturday, but it failed to deliver. Hundreds of teenage TikTok users and K-pop fans say they're at least partially responsible.

Like this was so obvious and exactly what I tried calling out, but alas, here we are :rip:

Once the ban went through, it should have stayed banned, even if it would have made the AIPAC and ADL cheer. It was the lesser evil.

Now the world's most powerful algorithm and most popular app is now the US's biggest propaganda machine.

It bears repeating that any time Republicans and Democrats are suddenly in agreement and fighting for the same thing, that should raise a trillion red flags.

It could be anecdotal, but ever since TikTok went back up, I haven't seen any video on my FYP that has been critical of Trump. At least after Election Day, I still saw a lot of anti-Trump videos on my feed.

It's not anecdotal, they manipulated the app to be pro-Trump which is why he's agreed to halt the ban.

They closed and opened the app back with "we love president trump!" messages. Tik Tok in the US as we know it is over, and because of that, there is no real point in trying to save it.
