shinyshimmery Posted December 17 Posted December 17 (edited) got this off tiktok a while back, been using it ever since: For White Laundry Downy rinse and refresh (in the softener compartment) Arm and hammer washing soda Tide odor eliminator liquid detergent BIZ (like oxy clean... powder or liquid) Pinesol Use a bit of each product... adjust according to load size. Heavy duty cold wash cycle. Hang (or cold air) dry Edited December 17 by shinyshimmery 2
bad guy Posted December 17 Posted December 17 Avoid fabric softener. There's nothing worse than washing whites (or even grays) and seeing fabric softener stains that are a pain in the ass to get out. Also separate whites from darks but that's obvious. I've also noticed that sometimes different deodorant can stain whites as well, but I always wash a shirt after wearing it (if it was hot out) so keep an eye out for that. But it all comes down to quality. A $10 shirt is going to fade faster than a $75 shirt. If I buy a white shirt it has to be good quality because if not I know that within a year it's gonna look dull as hell. If you use a dryer make sure it's not high heat either otherwise the fabric will get destroyed over time.
katara Posted December 17 Posted December 17 I don't have a single white clothing item. Not even socks. I am racist in that regard 1
modeblock Posted December 18 Posted December 18 (edited) In addition to your detergent and bleach, put a scoop (about half a cup to a cup depending on load size) of baking soda in with the clothes and use distilled white vinegar as the "softener" labeled on your machine. It keeps my stuff very white and also very good at eliminating odors without just covering them with fragrance Edited December 18 by modeblock
