They are historically taken for granted by the Democrats and have been relegated to second class status (in the Dem establishments' eyes anyway) in favor of other minorities. Asians value hard work esp in education and crave for security so when you have affirmative action policies particularly affecting them l What are you saying here exactly? What minorities are being placed ahead of Asians? How is affirmative action hurting them? What does hard work have to do with affirmative action?

How is affirmative action hurting them? What does hard work have to do with affirmative action? Affirmative Action has been biased against Asians for awhile now. Harvard and other Ivy League schools plainly discriminate against Asian applicants, who are held to the highest academic standard of all races because they're historically such strong applicants. Data shows that Asian students with 25% chance of admission to Harvard would have chances increase to 36% if they were white, 75% if they were Hispanic, and 95% if they were Black. Source. Ivy League schools use intangibles like "likeability" or "positive personality" (as if there aren't Asian people who are likeable or positive) or just use hidden quotas to try and make things more difficult for Asian candidates. And that while there are plenty of criticisms about the way Democrats have failed working class Asian Americans (friendly reminder Bernie won Asian voters in 2020"s primary!) - much of the rhetoric about taking Asian-Americans for granted in the past has often had to do with issues largely impacting college-educated, usually suburban-dwelling Asian communities. For example, ending affirmative action was a pet issue amongst affluent Asian Americans. Democratic losses with working class people of color are important, but it's interesting in what in this loss people will try to claim as the reason why for their own gain. You have affluent conservative Hispanic figures claiming Hispanic voters hate queer people and pro-trans policies or affluent conservative Asian figures claiming Asian voters resent criminal justice reform policies, but unable to address the reality of how who these very groups of people supported in 2020 wanted a brash social + economic progressive. This is the context of NYC, in Brooklyn and Queens. Which has a largely working-class Asian community. Because many are recent immigrants, and not fully established communities they have been passed over for more established groups in NY. NY cannot be compared to the rest of the United States in this regard. Many of the Asians in NY are not affluent suburbanites. They are mostly families living in poorer neighborhoods, who tend to not use their numbers for political purposes. Yes, I agree many affluent Asians tend to think they're speaking for their people. But they aren't. Unfortunately, people with money have the biggest mouths. A lot of Americans want social progressive programs. It's just the powers that control the two parties do not what this. And if Democrats in large cities like NY continue to ignore their constituents and get comfortable more people are going to vote the other way. Not because they agree with the politics, but because they want to see change.
