P.O.P Posted Sunday at 12:34 PM Posted Sunday at 12:34 PM It is not good news for Syrian people, I know his death won't bring prosperity and peace to the country but my god, hope all dictators face the same fate. 1
SlowGinFizzzz Posted Sunday at 12:38 PM Posted Sunday at 12:38 PM Assad was pure evil, so if he died, nobody will mourn him (although I would have preferred to see him in Den Haag). This being said, I am not very optimistic about this leading to any real stability for Syria and peace for the people there, but I do hope that I'm wrong. 1

It's why Trump negotiated with them to begin with. A Taliban win was expected, it was just faster than normal. On the other hand, two weeks ago everyone more or less agreed Assad had "won" the civil war. The same thing most likely happened here as well. Since Trump isn't in power, they did a back hand deal to buy out the military generals. Isn't it astonishing how they did not put up much resistance when they were fighting them earlier for over a decade? IDF openly acknowledges arming the Syrian rebels against Assad. This has Israel/Trump written all over it. 1

This has Israel/Trump written all over it. Probably. I'm curious about Russia and Iran's decision to do literally nothing about this. From what I've read, Moscow got tired of Assad failing to reform the political system - they even proposed a new constitution which Syria said no to - and decided to cut their losses (plus, they're busy with Ukraine). Sadly, I don't see this being the end of the Syrian conflict and, with Israel being emboldened, the region will only get worse. 2

AvadaKedavra Posted Sunday at 02:35 PM Posted Sunday at 02:35 PM (edited) Im glad this disgustin guy left. I was reading about all his crimes, killing and abuses. He was also an ally of hugo chavez. Disgustin. Go away demon cat But i feel bad for the syrians cause things dont look good with all those insurgent groups with extremist views takin over. I wish all my middle easterns sisters were able to move from there. So many bad things goin in that region and everything keeps gettin worse and worse It feels like here like latinoamerica but like 10x-30x times worse. I have middle eastern blood-last names and i would like to visit the land of my ancestors one day but it looks more and more impossible everyday Edited Sunday at 02:43 PM by AvadaKedavra 1

The Russians in particular are more than tied up in Ukraine, so in an odd way Assad's fate was partially settled in the Donbass. Iran, from its regime's foreign policy perspective, has had a truly awful few months.

Marianah Adkins Posted Sunday at 05:00 PM Posted Sunday at 05:00 PM Lets hope that the insurgent groups could find a compromise leadership there because something tells me this could be another power vacuum of destruction in the region nnnn
Virgos Groove Posted Sunday at 06:20 PM Posted Sunday at 06:20 PM (edited) The only silver lining in what will probably turn into (even more of) a quagmire - though I'm praying to be proven wrong. Vermouth Posted Sunday at 06:40 PM Posted Sunday at 06:40 PM Assad in Moscow. Source Sky News and BBC quoting Russian state media. Hopefully grey miserable and cold. Should've stayed in London as as eye doctor.

You think peace is coming anytime soon? This just makes it easier for Israel to do their shenanigans on their northern border now No, hence why I said I can't imagine this will result in peace any time soon Assad was a vile human being though. His loss of power might not lead to peace, but at least he won't be around. Edited Sunday at 08:48 PM by Relampago.
Aethereal Posted Sunday at 09:25 PM Posted Sunday at 09:25 PM The so-called "rebels" are not targeting civilians. (not that I am aware of) But I am still worried. Baby cobras grow up to be big cobras. So who knows what the future holds. ISIS did not start off as violently as it was in 2010s.
