I'm still shocked that she managed to bag an Ed Sheeran and Drake collabs… or even a Shawn Mendes as a boyfriend… and now this, probably the hottest producer ATM….

how does she keep getting these opportunities :sherlock:

It boggles the mind honestly. The GP keeps saying no to her and yet labels keep funneling money into the bottomless pit that is her career. And she doesn't even tour, so I have no idea how she's making any money for her label :gaycat6:

The prospect of Camila going Rock inexplicably gives me tingles of excitement.

Thank F*** she didn't think it was a good idea to work with Jack Antonoff.

I suspect Jack would have been on her initial shortlist, therefore I suspect she dodged a bullet in that regard.

ofc she is.

Give us a pop rock album omg :jonny:

I love Camila but she needs to understand that no one vibes with her singer-songwriter mellow music. I enjoy it because i like her but the gp simply doesn't and this will flop harder than C XOXO

A Spanish album with huge collaborators mixing reggaeton, regional and latin pop would be perfect and she would get hits easily. Familia was a step on that direction but felt half baked and all over the place... an album like Tini's Cupido or MSB by Karol G would serve its purpose.

I know she wants to do more than just making Latin music but her career is in shambles. Becky G was on that same position, did her rebrand and worked for her.

And it would feel authentic since she's an actual latina, has a whole background and her biggest hits to date have a Latin flare to it. It all adds up.

She is extremely well-liked within the industry. I know stans hate her and think it's funny to Kiki about her, but it's clear that her peers (fellow musicians, producers, label execs, etc) really enjoy her. Everytime one talks about her it's always glowing

Shameless is her most streamed song daily and it is Rock. if that song had gotten more promo it could have been a hit.

The guy in her IG photo is not Dan Nigro, but I think she has been writing with him. I feel like C,XOXO is the music she WANTED to make and enjoys the most, but she is probably so traumatized by all the negative comments and hate trains she received from it that she wants to shift direction again. She even had a Drake collab, which is rare for pop girls, but seems to be regretting it now that it came at a time when he is the most hated person in the industry (and rightfully so lol). Her biggest enemy is timing and lack of focus within her team and label. Her tour seems to have been scrapped as well after the album's underperformance, which is disappointing. Curious to see what she will do next though. I wish her luck!

It's always felt like she wants to be a singer-songwriter type who's taken seriously more than anything though.

The only parts I agree with are the first 3 sentences, because unlike 90% of her fans, I did not enjoy Godspeed or June Gloom at all. The rest is a bit of a poor take and I think it's because many people don't have a clear picture of her career trajectory and versatility. I think her biggest hits are not because they are Latin-influenced, but because of the hype her career had at the time those songs came out. Havana was released during the big Latin wave with Despacito and Bad Bunny blowing up during her 1st solo year. Senorita had Shawn's label + their relationship backing most of the promotion and was literally designed to be the Havana sequel that Shawn can leech off of. Everyone loves to leave out Bad Things and Never Be The Same (some of her BEST songs btw) when talking about her "hits", which were also top 10s and super successful. Even Shameless is a hit that is liked by my friends who don't even follow pop culture. Please remove this idea that her musical identify if defined ONLY by her Latin-influenced songs.

This is why she will continue flopping, because even her fans have such a poor idea of who she is as an artist. And this is probably how Epic treated her and why she left. Another Latin-inspired single or album is not going to do better than C,XOXO. Familia proved that already. Also, it will look like a desperate attempt from her and people will start to say she is chasing Havana success again, which she said countless times this era that she does not want.

C,XOXO deserved so much more, but its marketing really dropped the ball.

To make this era truly resonate and not feel forced, they needed to pull off something bold and unexpected, similar to the stunts Miley did with Bangerz. The whole vibe of the era felt a little off because Camila's image as the "good girl" didn't match the riskier direction of the album, leaving it feeling a bit disconnected.

Still, I'm excited to see what she does next and glad she took a risk with this last album. She faces a lot of unfair scrutiny.

Shameless is one of her best, maybe her next album can a track that's half as good.

The problem of Camila is that she has no taste and the popular mind that will give her a hit

at this point Camila would be lucky to work with Debbie Gibson.

This. The "good girl" persona should have never happened. She is seen as corny to the gp now because of 2 main reasons:

1) Associating herself with a loser like Shawn Mendes literally killed her career.

2) Being the lead in a corny musical like Cinderella was the final nail in the coffin.

Any "baddie" era she tries to pull off again will be seen as a joke. I still have an ounce of hope for her though because Sabrina was literally a Disney girl and managed to break out of that mold recently. I just have no idea what it would take for Camila to fix her image. If C,XOXO couldn't do it, I don't know what will. I wish she had smarter and more experienced people advising her on career choices.

Because she doesn't. And I say this as a long time fan. She panders too much and needs to build her own identity rather than just reaching out to all the producers that work with her favorite artists. This is why she gets accused of stealing their styles. I feel like she let El Guincho's creative direction to take over her entire era. It didn't feel very "her" and as someone who enjoys FKA twigs and Rosalia, it seemed like El Guincho was copying and pasting their formulas onto her project. She said in interviews she learned a lot from him because he introduced her to a load of old music to take references from, which is cool, but it felt like it was just his hand doing everything. I wonder what her and Jasper would have created alone without him...

Good luck to her I guess. I'm not a fan and I will not pay to see her perform. She isnt important like that to me.
