Fleahive Posted Friday at 01:01 PM Posted Friday at 01:01 PM How is the Jolene cover horrible? Tell me QUICK!? Are y'all fake mad about a woman dragging the woman instead of focusing on her man cheating even though that's what she spent half of Lemonade doing? Homewreckers deserve their lashings too. Quit being fake woke. Jolene is amazing. 2

Um. He didn't say it was someone from Beyonce's team or even a media person, he said it was one of the people he worked with and I doubt they share collaborators. I know you are trying to find things to discredit the Greatest Artist of the Century but just because one of his collaborators liked the album enough to recommend it to him, it doesn't mean it was Beyonce's doing. Also, if there was a concerted effort from her to create hype from the country establishment, she didn't do a very good job at it, considering she specifically said she didn't feel welcomed by them and put in 0 effort to ingratiate herself to country radio and award shows, not to mention most country stars other than Dolly said they didn't want her there, much like this guy. I wonder why. 2
Cruel Summer Posted Friday at 02:26 PM Posted Friday at 02:26 PM Quote "It represents how degenerative our society has become that a song like a Beyoncé version of 'Jolene' can come out and anybody actually listen to it and think it's not just complete trash," he said, choosing to ignore the fact that Dolly Parton herself more than gave her blessing for COWBOY CARTER. The main issue here is that there's no specific or substantive criticism here. Without that, and with him saying "A Beyoncé version" rather than "THE Beyoncé version," it feels like his issue isn't one of the substance of the material at all, but rather an issue with Beyoncé the person making a version of Jolene. One really must wonder what that issue would be, given his other self-expressed stances, ideas, and political leanings, not to mention the content of the song that's his claim to fame. 3

Brikenbur Posted Friday at 02:35 PM Posted Friday at 02:35 PM The issue here is that this has gotten traction from Billboard, Rolling Stone, NME and Stereogum.. now, the elite press ATRL has their hands on it! But seriously, a silly little viral artist who had one "hit(?)" says he hates Beyoncé's country album? It must be a slow news week.
ShouldersSideways Posted Friday at 02:57 PM Posted Friday at 02:57 PM It's telling to me that people on here will uplift and uphold MAGA coded artists like this man if it's in the interest of dragging someone they don't like. I personally don't like the Jolene cover, and I'm a Beyonce fan. However, there are worse Jolene covers out there; interesting, and unsurprising, that someone like him saves the vitriol for Beyonce. So many country artists have nothing to say about other pop stars getting into the genre, but everything about Bey. I wonder why? 1 5

ICLDXU4HS Posted Friday at 03:28 PM Posted Friday at 03:28 PM She should have covered a male country classic instead of Jolene because a) those aren't as overdone and b) these men would have fumed even harder which is exactly the point. Spoiler Anyway, that man needs to worry about the small animals living off the food residue in that raggedy moustache.

He's tying this to the moral failing of 'society' and I can almost promise you his definition of the degeneration of society includes the majority of people who frequent this forum. But, sure, OP, anything to get a Beyonce drag in.
