Why the Eternal Sunshine era is being completely ignored by the industry?

Despite critical acclaim, 2 #1 hits and huge success, Eternal Sunshine is being completely ignored by the industry at large

First, the Grammys snub her in all the major categories

Then Eternal Sunshine wasn't even featured in Apple Music's Albums of the year

Now, Eternal Sunshine is also not featured in this new spotify promo featuring the most relevant albums of the year

Why do you think this is happening?

i've been a huge fan of hers since the way but while the album is good, it's also kind of just there. most of the tracks are just anonymous, inoffensive 7/10 pop songs.

As a casual Ariana listener, she's at fault for this. It's one of the risks of not promoting your stuff. There was a point in which her album was completely forgotten because there was nothing going on. This time, unlike her previous eras, she's been competing against many new and exciting pop artists exploding and rising, so she's been completely overshadowed.

Because the album was also completely ignored in real life too. If it weren't for WCBF, the album would have nothing going on for it.

Yes And was #1 because of her fan base and quickly died down the charts.

The album had okay-ish debut numbers.

People were just not invested during this era.

I love her to death but she snubbed her own era in favor of wicked (which is respectable and understandable) but I hope she turns things around now for a bit

Still a great album and much more solid (nearly 0 filler) than some of the ones listed by Spotify.

because it's not a big enough departure from her old music

it's good album and i think she has perfected her formula but people like it's same old same pop/rnb she's been doin since forever

Maybe they didn't submit for the Grammys? Who cares anyway :skull: All of these quick lil awards are fake and useless

Wicked is her priority. She can step up and change the game with deluxe tho.

I think after award season is over she'll restart the era.

Honestly this album came and went. Even though YA and WCBF were #1 hits they didn't felt massive like her previous ones and def aren't memorable like 7 rings, Side to Side, hell, even Positions :deadbanana2:

She's at fault too because the album also came and went for her. She's on her Glinda era, so

she's nominated for 3 grammys tho? and already won a few other awards

not having a little spotify logo doesn't mean it's being ignored

I mean...it didn't grab me much personally

surprised that ATRL liked it that much - and then not, since it was a safe Ariana production (not in a negative way, but it's a sound that people know her for)

The album wasn't bad! Just it didn't feel as exciting?

+dont think the effort was felt from her? felt like a pretty quick era (a bit like how Selena did her Rare era)

ofc ppl will forget about it somewhat

she probably isn't just pushed up the chart and getting acclaimed, just because she is Ariana

but some will disagree..

She was overshadowed by Chappell, Sabrina, Charli, Billie, etc., that's the truth.

Everyone and their mothers released music this year and since Ariana didn't promote her album much it got left behind.

People claiming she didn't promote when she released 3 singles, each with music videos, televised performances, multiple versions and even remixes with other semi-popular artists. The era just got overshadowed, that's all. She's getting a lot of attention with Wicked, which she's clearly ver invested in, so there's that

she didn't play the industry's game with promo and cut the era short because she clearly was trying to do way too much at once

given all that I'd say it was successful enough and a cute moment

I mean... I don't think this is true. The album spent 15 weeks in the top 20 with nearly zero promo and it's still in the top 100 now. I'm pretty sure it's done better than positions and sweetener, in terms of units. And aren't the first week streams among the biggest of all time? I remember everyone expecting a flop and being blown away.

It's actually still #26 on the weekly Spotify chart for albums, higher than Guts and only 9 spots lower than brat, which is considered a 2024 highlight and just got a re-release. And it's not just because of WCBF because the album still gets a very strong total of 6.3m streams per day and wcbf accounts for about 1/3 of that. The remaining 4m come from the other tracks. The only problem with the era is that only one out of the 3 singles became a legitimate big hit, but people did consume the album and still are.

She need to change her team… how did that Taylor & Sabrina getting this recognition when both are bad, or Beyonce era was boring still getting recognition

A shame cause it is one of her best.

She really needed a deluxe with another single to keep the era in people's minds. She's been too focused on Wicked though

She clearly doesn't like/was burned out of the way she needs to promote/engage with her fans in the music world and yes the era got lost in the shuffle since this was a pretty eventful year. She still got her moment in the spotlight with WCBF smashing and the album is still great. Plus with Wicked smashing I doubt she's losing any sleep over it lol.
