oh lord here come the essays explaining there's more to this decision .. apart from "contract negotiations" being such a nebulous topic that no one truly GAF , there is NO way to ever know the validity to that but it will work for just enough of some of the terminally online that they will parrot that talking point FOR drake to defend him … for all we know he's just legitimately stewing, In His Feelings like a karen and big mad that his ass got GOT :skull:

Yeah... he has their largest market share (even larger than Taylor, yes). If they lose him... it won't be good, his massive popularity and numbers fundddddddd so many other people. Despite the dRaKe IzZ 0o0oV333R stan twitter narrative, he's still v popular and without him the label would be in trouble.

and 90% of his streams came from back catalog. drake never has to drop a song again for UMG to make money

so lets say drake wants to protest and say he's not dropping music. they wont care

Drake is the biggest loser of 2024

UMG should bury him

Labels are ruthless. So, I'm so intrigued to see his edit moving forward.

I just don't see him bouncing back...in full.

The thing is, the powers that be won't even do it abruptly. That would be too obvious.

It will be increasingly blah playlisting. Not as much radio dominance. Etc. And because his whole thing is huge, almost automated success, anything less than that presents and a dip and will be.

Add to that the fact that his organic clout has taken a hit and yeah, it's about to look different. Drake debuting/peaking top 10/20 instead of #1 with a single...is effectively a dip. Same with his albums, EPs, "packs".

Never say never, he may randomly be able to weather the storm, but I thnk this is all happening at what would have been his organic dip anyway.

Right. No matter how they try and spin it. A rap diss making you get lawyers involved is a major L:bibliahh: imagine Bigge, PAC or 50 try this. Like ain't no way

They're the only fanbase that do this.

If anyone else had 20 reference tracks leak (and not hooks but entire verses and cadence, flow as well) they would be a complete joke and their fans would turn on them for it. They have no integrity at all lol. He lost a rap beef, and is now saying the song that crowned the rightful victor is a false winner :skull: that's an L no matter what you say or what conspiracy you cook up or what you want to believe about UMG.

He needs to be careful, cause like someone mentioned earlier they making $$$ off his back catalog and if they feel he's being a nuisance instead of dropping him they can further tarnish his name with evidence from the vault they brushed away. He's have a few lawsuits that nobody talks about cause they quickly got settled.

Didn't he literally get a no.1 a few years back by manipulating YouTube ads or something? :clown:

Like, he of all people should NOT want to open the autoplay Pandora's box. :hoetenks: I spent some two years getting Life is Good recommended on YouTube, it was crazy.

Wanting UMG to block a diss record calling you a PDF file when you first threw an accusation that Kendrick is a domestic abuser is INSANE.

Boy take your lumps in stride and move on. Acting like this is a conspiracy is insane. We have 13 years worth of evidence that Kendrick doesn't like you lmao

Back to Back... lawsuits? :hoetenks:

Also, won't a defamation lawsuit force him or UMG to expose a LOT of dirty laundry (a la Depp-Heard)? Maybe his team really is plotting against him ddd

Another lawsuit that will be tossed out of the court system while Drake's public image and rap cred sinks to new lows :rip:
