Will be interesting to see if UMG do indeed sue Kendrick. Somehow I can't see it happening.

The tweet hits the nail on the head in so many directions.

I'm obviously Team Kendrick in the beef, as he dropped the better tracks. But have never actively "disliked" Drake.

But this is such an anti-Hip-Hop move that he must really not give AF anymore. And...there has to be more to it.

Losing a beef is one thing (literally someone has to), but this is so Karen-coded in a culture that is built on the literal opposite that he really marked himself forever corny for this. Like forever.

Even if he was sitting on a mountain of evidence that was true, no one will give a single f as NLU is still an undeniable bop.

Apparently, this is all pre-litigation filing. Basically a shaking of the table before a lawsuit (which may never happen). And, as the tweet suggests, probably a move to get him off of Universal.

IIRC, Drake has his own OVO label over on Warner (which was always odd to me given that he's a Universal act). I can imagine he wants to release via there or has provisional deals on the table from another UMG rival like Sony.

As it stands, I can see him signing a major money deal elsewhere on his name alone. But I just don't think the returns are going to be what that new label "think" they will be. Unless they, ironically, use the very tactics he's complaining about lmao.

For all the wack music he's released and his corny antics in general, who'd have thought his undoing would be a lawsuit over a diss track?

i honestly can't think of a dumber move he could have made for his reputation post-beef than this :rip:

it was already bad for him but now he will SURELY go down in history as a b*tch-made sore loser who sues over Spotify streams before literal PDF-file allegations :ahh:

and then gets exposed for his ACTUAL inflated streams.

What a stunt queen

He is so embarrassing. In the age of streaming where numbers can be inflated by fan bases, I feel like "Not Like Us" is one of the few songs that actually feels like a proper number one considering I heard other people listen to it IRL constantly.

HUH? I like Drake BUT he's literally the most streamed rapper on Spotify and usually in the top 3 for most streamed artist across all genres like HUH?

Snitching to the COURTS??? 😂😂😂

This is such a terrible idea. I can't believe he'd do this.

The only way I think this could work out well for him is if he secretly has proof this was going on stashed away ready to release, but even if he did I still think a lot of the public would refuse to believe it anyway.
