This opportunity would be better suited  for the newer girls like Olivia Chappell Sabrina

they don't have the multigenerational appeal S1wVq-ezgif.com-resize.thumb.gif.4b55673983bd342fdbce66561fd00b93.gif

Obviously the best options for this would be Taylor or Beyonce, but I suspect neither will do it

Shakira. Live from Mexico City. Just sounds right for Netflix

From female artists, unfortunately Billie is probably the only one from the new crop that comes close to fitting the "multigenerational" tag.

Is it not a bit late?

Christmas is only a month away and they don't even have a person yet?

Maybe Kylie Minogue? She's already got a Netflix deal for her upcoming documentary.

Ugh, the Bey thing is such a gift and annoyance because she is literally the only act that truly embodies what the brief calls for (multigenerational, multicultural reach, and an electrifying performer).

She is pioneering yet another format (livesteamed music performance on Netflix). But, much as I'm sure she will slay Halftime, I'd live for her doing a full-fledged concert on the platform in the manner described.

Effectively, a new take on the live-streamed Coachella performance (before it was reworked into Homecoming) would be perfect and you just know she'd kill it.

Now, we'll have to settle for someone probably just as "big" but not as "capable".

It should be Olivia. She can also use the gig to promote OR3 which is releasing next year

Like....?

This to me reminds of my whole issue with award show bookers.

They will go and book the biggest selling/streamed acts like a Taylor, Billie, Harry etc as if it automatically qualifies as an entertaining/engaging watch for the masses...and then wonder why the ratings continue to dwindle.

It's a delicate balance picking great performers who are also hugely successful with music everyone is gagging over.

With that, the only two acts that come to mind (besides Beyonce) are:

Bruno Mars: Whenever he is ready to launch his era

and

Gaga: She can be a little messy live, but a) has the hits, b) is electrifying when on-it, and c) has global/cross-generational appeal.

Ariana could work too. She doesn't pack "as" much of a punch as the above performance-wise but her voice is amazing, she has a huge profile (and probably the demo Netflix wants), and is a pretty solid all-rounder.

Are you trying to tell me Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga and Bruno mars would be able to bring in more viewers than Taylor mother-f..ing Swift, the owner of the biggest tour of all time, who has millions of people watching her every damn show via a terrible tiktok stream? This surely can't be right.......
