People aren't happy because he's directly competing against their favorite artist. Liddo's are notoriously a racist fanbase and have been on this site but I don't think being upset about a song that is getting more streams and sales week to week but losing out on a chart by little points because of radio play constitutes not being happy for a black artist making history. Obviously a black man getting a historic hit in the COUNTRY genre is a massive deal but I don't think that invalidates other fans being upset when, by all metrics, it looks like another song may be #1. It's really not that big of a deal though both songs are huge hits.

The song is very big with local people. My parents love the song and are big country fans. I've heard it twice. I think it's playing to a more general and especially older crowd that's less online than most of us on this site.

The current Hot 100 is like so reminiscent of the 2020 radio freeze where we had Don't Start Now, Blinding Lights, and Circles dominating for a literal year. This chart feels so odd still to me but they've recalibrated it like 1000s of times atp so i guess they know what they're doing.

DWAS is only outstreaming ABS by 1-2 million streams in the US based on the breakdown per metric by the weekly chart predictors. 

It's not a gap that is far and wide reaching that youre making it out to be. 

Let's not forget ABS is way past its peak (points wise) and released far before DWAS. 

DWAS is just a weaker hit but its definitely a smash in thailand and philippines spotify streaming charts so congrats on that!

This is so randomly condescending and has a tinge of racism toward asian people claiming they bot stream (which you said earlier) despite the song being a bonafide hit worldwide with general audiences. Like I get you're pressed about Flowers or w/e but its weird to insinuate that DWAS is only getting high streams because Asian audiences are listening to it and the song has been in the top 10 of Billboard throughout SEVERAL album bombs and releases, and has topped the Global chart as well.

 

Since you clearly brought up Miley a few posts ago, it is now on topic in this thread. If you wanna talk about "bot" streams Flowers benefitted from them as well as a heavy autoplay campaign as part of her signing to a new label, and the subsequent album release which paled in comparison to Plastic Hearts critically and commercially proves that even with a new label people weren't that perched for the album. An RCA album release has more consistent streams than her release under a new label imprint, which resulted in an instant number one and no longevity for the album release whatsoever. If you wanna be overtly negative about DWAS and its numbers and be condescending towards an entire population of people who are actively listening to it be my guest but maybe it's time for some more reflection on why you have such a bad attitude about it.
