Most other counties don't allow album bombs to clog up the charts with album tracks, so we can still see where the singles are.... Uk rules are best, we have rules against both long running number 1s, don't include radio and only allowed 3 songs per album to chart unless singles in own released version 1 1

NewStanner Posted Sunday at 08:30 PM Posted Sunday at 08:30 PM I need luther to pull through and get that #2, come on SZA BOAF -7%, while LC is stable at 0%, I hate it here

No, it means our charts you can still compare from past generations, what 'record' is having 7 random album tracks top 10 but someone like Janet who had actually 7 HITS, songs the GP know, songs that stand the test of time, no one will know these random album tracks in 10 years

DWaS was at the top of US Spotify for weeks on end and consistently at #2 and #3 on the Hot 100. If it gets to #1, it's deserving. 3

But it is destroying chart 'records' Janet's record should still stand as I am concerned she still has more top 10 SINGLES from one album. One day they will change i think .

Ger Posted Sunday at 09:03 PM Posted Sunday at 09:03 PM Yess Kenny, wash all those fosils off the Top 5

One day they will change i think . Back then you could still release new singles from an album 2 years after it dropped. Now pretty much every era is done after the album got released with maybe one successful post album single, because the target audience already consumed the whole project when it dropped. Times change, listening habits change, the music market changes and so do the charts. Why introduce some stupid rules to make them not represent the most popular songs of the week anymore? (like the UK) Edited Sunday at 09:07 PM by Helix 1
Helix Posted Sunday at 09:09 PM Posted Sunday at 09:09 PM Hope he gets 8 songs in the top 10. The album is an amazing body of work

Michael196 Posted Sunday at 11:28 PM Posted Sunday at 11:28 PM How did Last Christmas re-enter a week earlier than Mariah & Brenda?

Last Christmas hasn't reached 52 weeks, so it can re-enter in the Top 50, as opposed to the Top 25. It's amazing how 40 years after release how Last Christmas turned into one of the biggest Christmas songs, while Do They Know It's Christmas has become an afterthought. 1

Ideally, I think it's fair to measure based on total consumption, but you'd probably need to be a little naive to think the recent simultaneous entry records are comparable to what they were before. Just another case of apples and oranges. 3
