Madonna: "Should I make the story of my life into a series or a feature film?"

A miniseries makes sense in theory, but it will never not be hard as hell to capture the entire breadth of her career and personal life in a season of TV (or movie) that's complete, well-developed, and stands as a technical piece of storytelling. It'd be very easy for it to end up rushed and clunky.

If fans mainly want to see all her eras get represented, I've always felt that going the Mamma Mia route would be the best way. You could have her hits and songs from all her albums centered around one original story.

Why not use a non linear approach in which each episode shows her life in flashbacks while it shows a bit more about her present dealing with ageism and media scrutiny while she works on a new tell-all album/song. It would go deeper into who Madonna is as a character and what has led her to this point in life.

This would be a gag

Whatever, mom. Just drop it :deadvision:

Okay but ffr, her both writing the screenplay and directing a project about HER life would be a disaster. :rip: It'll be completely overworked and will lack the necessary objectivity. There are very few accomplished directors who can also write screenplays (Orson Welles, Woody Allen, Greta Gerwig), let alone Madonna who can't direct for ****.

Let someone else write the screenplay, and another person direct it.

I would love a series if there's a DVD release once it's wrapped up :suburban:

Girl you might as well ask for a photo-novel, do they even still do DVDs :rip:

I'd rather the story come directly from her because she actually lived it in real time versus some second or third party

Series! Without hesitation !

As for madge, her brief childhood transition to New York hustling to the success of second album is probably what casual/non-fans look forward as a private phase of her life before stardom and we already know how her career been after that.

For mini-series, the beginning, true blue to erotica, the fallen to the repeak to the fallen again, hung up to Superbowl and cut it. Sad that she is too egomaniac to control the production but alas

Movie.

A series could easily be forgotten, tbh. Plus a show on Madonna? Sounds like a flop. Girl, just do the movie already or shelve it.

yeah tbh I feel like this will be scrapped and then years from now one will be made when she's dead. I wish she'd just do it, but if it's not going to be good just don't.

What's Love Got to Do with It was pretty impactful.

first one that came to mind for me too :clap3: brilliant film with two career highlight performances from the two main actors, and honestly felt like such an important film. RIP Tina :chick3:

I think Madonna has important stories that've happened in her life that, if approached gracefully and with scant campiness, could be impactful in film format. it's just hard to say though still… cause I feel like her vision might potentially clash with the proposed visions of other people who are more accomplished in the motion picture industry. her artistry is brilliant, her story is timeless… but she's proven that music, short form videos, dancing, and performing are where her greatest talents lie 🫠

i could see two movies actually working out

imagine a first one ending with the Blonde Ambition tour like someone mentioned, it gets great reviews, etc

and then she could release another one starting with Erotica, controversy and ending up with the high note of COAD :gaydonnacat1:

I wouldn't watch either

She's my number one but I don't think I would watch this tbh, no offense. It feels too final and end-of-career.

She should do both, I don't see why she couldn't

Her career is too vast to have it be covered in a single film, so it should focus only on a certain part of her career like her rise to stardom, kinda like RBG's biopic

Then a year or two later have it be followed up with a miniseries that covers her career in full depth
