I think doing lipping in big one-time events like this is very tricky. It works perfectly on tours (i.e. the Renny tour) because she does it so many times and becomes so comfortable on that same stage doing the same thing night after night that it allows her to be super calm and freak it flawlessly. When it's done on a one-time halftime show, my guess is that the adrenaline and nervousness is so huge that her facials weren't matching the sound that was being lipped. It took me out of it a little bit, but that doesn't change the fact that this was miles better than 98% of the other artists' Super Bowl halftimes.

Hmmm. I actually think most of the performance was lipped. In YA YA, there are moments where she is "singing" and you can see her chest and her mouth taking in breaths at times where it wouldn't be possible for her to breathe and sing at the same time. In LEVII'S JEANS, the track goes "the way it's popping out cha phone" and her mouth does "popping out my phone", she quickly turns around because she realized she messed up, and when she goes "I love you down to the bone", she tilts her head down very quickly and it's almost impossible to get that "bone" note as clean as it was if it was live.

 

JOLENE could be live, that's the only one I can't really tell, and THE was definitely live.

 

This is not me trying to be shady, just sharing what I gathered from what I know. What sucks is that people look at using pre-recorded tracks as something negative when it isn't, specially when not ONE single other artist today could pull it off like she does even in this performance, considering it was one of her worst lipping performances.

 

I think the lipping was very necessary here considering she was ALL over that football field. She wasn't only dancing, she was running around between sets in this huge space which is miles more demanding than what she does on tour.

 

Sorry for the essay, I'm a performer myself and I live for this kind of stuff.

Some of my thoughts:

• When was the last time she's even catered to pop music expectations? Were you expecting the typical Crazy in Love/Halo/Single Ladies that we've seen so many times (and you would probably still say the setlist is tired)?
• The fact that she's given so much performing excellence over the years that some people find this to be "mid" or "boring" is crazy...no one else in mainstream music is doing (or even capable of doing) elaborate sets like this anymore
• MY HOUSE was such a pleasant surprise but much needed inclusion on the setlist
• My only real disappointment was her using Dolly's intro for Tyrant but not actually performing the track...like why

Great performance but the obvious lipsynching kinda ruined the illusion. Most casuals watching probably wouldn't notice though.

 

Maybe too much production? If there's such a thing. It didn't "feel" live, kinda like those COVID performances that are more like a music video.

Brit fans have been jealous of Beyonce for years, she keeps doing events they wish Britney could've been doing. Remember in 2016, Coldplay were hinting at some female joining them at the SB, Brit fans were convinced it was her, imagine their shock when it was Bey again 

 

Rih literally just walked around her performance, her dancers carried that. When you see any viral moment from that performance, it was the dancers.
 

She was pregnant, but you know what, I can't see it being any different if she wasn't. 
 

Someone posted on twitter asking who is a better "Performer" than Bey and I near died when one said Mariah.

I keep seeing clips of the ending high note. So I rewatched the performance (after blackbird tbh) and this is her best half time show. Oop! I always feel urged to curse out hive that are quick to say she topped a previous moment but yeah… this show was so high energy the second the actual live performance on the grass began. It was so fun and that ending was so satisfying. It always takes me a second watch to see the full vision. I thought she was coked out during YaYa but I see why she was acting alongside the backup dancers.

Well I'm speaking on this site specifically. Twitter has delusional and unhinged stans across all fanbases, the navy on this site (the few remaining ones anyway) mostly like and love Bey and hardly ever participate in any attempts to drag anyone, not just Bey. It's been going on for long before the Jay's allegations. There's this vague of intense hatred towards, her Twitter is filled with the most abject and evil comments. Add to that the conservatives who think she's Trump's and America's #1 enemy. 

 

But she just went to work, she didn't change her plans, she didn't deviate, she didn't have a meltdown or curse people. She gave her best. She will keep being her, she's not letting them break her.
