We are to blame tbh.. we were angry that companies are just using us for clout and money in June and they should not use pride flags always

Pendulum has swung further right and trad-white globally.

Pushing ideas like equality and acceptance isn't popular right now in the mainstream.

I for one found majority of the body positivity movement stupid as it glorified obesity and unhealthy-ness

Was just used as an excuse for lack of exercise and daily activity

Also, there are only 2 genders

Well a lot of it was non sense. Body Positivity is great but now ozempick makes it not necessary anymore...

But doesn't this only prove it was always fake/hypocritical? When given the easy way out, (almost) everybody preferred to be thin, after all.

This is what happens when lefties spout cringe. I hate it cuz progressive ideals almost always are better than conservative shite, but it is what it is. America chose the Obese Oompa Loompa Reality Star as their president.

There were certainly some who treated it as a reason not to do anything about their obesity, but the majority of common sense people took it for what it was. In the world of rising body dysmorphia due to social media and idealized bodies being pushed to their social media feeds in every direction.

The morbidly obese people who stay in basements and spew hatred on Twitter are not really what I think is the best focus to have when it comes to that movement.

I think most people fall into the normal category of body positivity movement of maybe being 30 lbs more than they like and who spend a lot of time hating that about themselves.

After all, you can embrace body positivity while still trying to change something by going to the gym, eating healthy, etc. Its just the mental perspective and crippling self hatred that it was fighting.

The right has grown powerful voices. Look at the election results.

The far left took it too far and the far right always hated it. This made the ones in the middle feel uncomfortable with it all together.

People do not like feeling like they have to walk around egg shells constantly. The far right used this and exaggerated it to gain favor.

The far left wanting to cancel everyone and everything who made a small mistake or said something uneducated, so people had to choose their words very carefully and eventually they were like "you know what? **** it" and started turning against the community

To me this should be a lesson to all of us, pushing something down people's throats won't make them accept it, they will only grow tired of it and reject it, like that U2 album that was automatically downloaded to all the iTunes accounts

I think "cancel culture" is partly to blame. Too many people wanted to push it to an extreme and now it backfired and things will probably be worse than before.

Mix that with too many awful people with huge platforms and millions of ignorant people looking up to them. Sounds like a recipe for disaster.

I do agree. I have always found cancel culture to be ridiculous unless the person is truly terrible. However people went on to cancel ANYONE :rip:

You can thank Donald Trump. He's made it cool to be hateful and the young guys just love him. It's become "cool" to like Trump. Thank God my nephew will be raised right. One of my friends kids started to like Trump "because it was cool" and all his friends did :rip: It's insane. She thankfully told him what a POS Trump is.

because 'corporate wokeness' was just a marketing and publicity ploy. now corporations realized it's not really worth alienating conservatives nor is it profitable and therefore they stopped caring.

Corporations don't care about you, they just care about MONEY

The only reason companies were promoting LGBTQ/pride in the first place was for money, and the whole Bud Light fiasco has now deterred some of them.  It was always a business move and never because any company was actually supportive.

Non-binary pronouns have never been taken seriously with most of the public and rightfully so.  If you don't "conform" to gender identities, you could then very easily not care what pronouns people use to refer to you since you don't identify with any of it anyway,  but instead you have people making a big deal about it so they can be a "victim" which then looks like an entitled non-existing first world problem, given what people of other countries like Palestine are going through.

The body positivity thing has changed because people realize that being fat and unhealthy leads to a shorter life and shouldn't be praised.  That's like praising an alcoholic for drinking.

Basically this

The pendulum is swinging in the other direction. I feel like this is how culture shifts- from one opposite extreme to the next and then it vacillates back and forth until landing somewhere in the middle

This is so true. I work part-time at a highschool. And it's very evident :rip: I thought Gen Z was gonna be more liberal, but nah. They like to be edgy and act like it's 2004.
