the streaming era made the charts so boring during november & december

every chart watcher i know thinks the same.. maybe one day holiday songs won't be allowed to chart on the hot 100

She could in theory tie the record of 19 weeks this year. If Brenda Lee doesn't knock her out a week or two

she already has 14, plus one in Nov and 4 in December, oh if she scores the last week in January than just maybe…

she literally just needs 5 more weeks, which is possible to happen as early as this year if RATCT (or any other songs) doesn't block

Sorry, but you would have to block every recurring song then. The chart is based on consumption now and if a holiday song or a old song that has been used in a tv show is the most consumed it will be #1 :rogue:

I can imagine they will change the rules somewhat because labels may wine about their artists missing out a few spots during november/december...

for a long time holiday songs were not allowed to chart on the hot 100 and had their own separate chart, so billboard could bring that rule back anytime

i think billboard they will eventually do it because at this rate most of the hot 100 records will be broken by a bunch of christmas songs and i don't think billboard would want that

Christmas songs weren't pulling these numbers in the physical and digital eras so it's incomparable.

If the streaming charts are dominated by Christmas songs then that should be reflected in the charts whether we like it or not.

On the contrary, I'm keen for Christmas music to change things up.

The top 10s been basically the same for months and the Bar Song would otherwise just be no.1 for like 30 weeks, which just shows how stagnant the charts are getting...

Christmas music is the palette cleanser we need at this point. Charts have been boring all year long with that Shaboozey song topping them.

I hope so because ever since 2019 they ruined big Q4 releases for all artists.

noone seems to release big blockbuster albums in Q4 anymore.

back in 2010 to 2019 we used to have new blockbuster albums by biggest names almost every week.

Rn Oct, Nov and december feels so empty.

Mimi will stop him from getting 20 weeks at #1, but he will probably return to #1 on January :deadbanana2:

I'll be shocked if That's So True isn't the #1 out of the break. A Bar Song's run at #1 is nearing its end. If it's going to get the 20, it's coming the next 2 weeks. It's already being challenged. No way it's still #1 in 7 weeks time.

That's So True is already dropping on AM and its numbers on Spotify aren't really all that big. I somehow doubt she'll keep up that momentum for at least another 7 weeks. Unless her label sends it to radio, I really don't see it going beyond Top 5. My guess for #1 after Christmas is yet another battle between ABS and DWAS.

But "That's So True" has very poor airplay support so far. It's gonna take some time before it reaches "A Radio Song" airplay and Shaboozey is gonna get a massive increase after the year-end countdowns, so he will still be #1 on Radio Songs in January.

Gracie could be #1 in mid-January, but the first #1 of the year will probably be Shaboozey just like Post Malone's Circles returned to #1 in January of 2020.

This!

It will be another Greedy situation. Unless she gets massive airplay in January and her streams remain stable until next year.
