Bussea Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 I've always loved Amanda and thought she was so underrated I had no idea she auditioned, I kinda wish she got the role. I love her voice and I've never found ariana to be good actress tbh and with the clips i've seen…. chii 1 1
NoOneDiesFromLove Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Oh Ariana you will pay for stealing a role you did not deserve… 1 1 4

Billie Burke was 54 when she played the original Glinda in The Wizard of Oz. So Glinda being played by a 20 year old actress has never really been the precedent on or off Broadway. I believe most of the main cast in Wicked is older than Ariana too, so a cast that's older than the college aged characters portrayed was clearly an intentional choice. With fantasy especially, I think you have more room to suspend disbelief.
rac7d Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 She did Les mis and mama Mia does she think she's Meryl Streep ? 1

It's unlikely any other major contenders are going to show up at this point so she has a strong chance. These are experts predictions based on likelihood of nominations and they've all mostly seen Wicked already at industry screenings so it's an informed prediction. Basically she wouldn't be #3 in the overall odds if she was a long shot. And yes the meltdowns will be glorious to witness lol. All these Amanda stans will all of a sudden go into hiding. No surprise. Edited November 15, 2024 by Tm4074 2 1
Luminary Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 The ageism in here, not when Cynthia and Amanda are pretty much the same age and both look phenomenal. It would've made more sense tbh
DarkGa Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 The theatre kids trying to claim there's a difference in "emotion" here the pretentiousness
P.O.P Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 I am sorry but isn't that role supposed to be a boarding school student? Ms. Amanda is almost 40
GotMyBlueprint Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Amanda is too good for this quick lil spinoff, tbh. She deserves to be in The Wizard of Oz 2.

She has an Oscar nom and a Lead Actress Emmy win this side of COVID which is much better than 99% of actresses' entire careers.

She got an oscar nomination in 2021 and won an emmy and golden globe in 2023. Also i was talking about talent, not box office success, which has nothing to do with talent Edited November 16, 2024 by Space Cowboy
