Matthew4815 Posted November 14 Posted November 14 Ew I absolutely hate the arrangement of Mariah's version. It completely misses the vibe of the song. 3 4
SoldierofLove Posted November 14 Posted November 14 (edited) What Celine's version did has class to it. You just feel like an elegant, wealthy widow when it comes on. Edited November 14 by SoldierofLove 4 1
smartalek22 Posted November 14 Posted November 14 Why wouldn't you just put the studio versions for both Neither performed it actually live in the eras they released their versions sadly 1 1 2

AlanRickman1946 Posted November 14 Posted November 14 Mariah's: joyous/gospel Celine's: haunting/religious Overall: Mariah wins (both are nice) 1
Goaty Posted November 14 Posted November 14 Celine > Mariah. Both are good Sohyang's kinda clears them both tho 4
l3disko Posted November 14 Posted November 14 Love Celine but I've always loveddddd Mariah's version. 1

It's so unironically extra that it crosses over into camp and I absolutely live for it. as for the OT, I prefer the richness of Mariah's version. But Celine's is wonderful.
constantinople Posted November 14 Posted November 14 Celine's version is bland and catholic. Mariah's version is gospel and joyful. Like STAND UP B*TCHES, THE KING WAS BORN 2 7
Nightingale Posted November 14 Posted November 14 Mariah's version is one of my favorite Christmas songs of all time 1

ninetales Posted November 14 Posted November 14 While I enjoy Mariah's joyful take on OHN, I still prefer Celine's. Her version catches the holiness of the song- sublime yet powerful. I believe it is how OHN should be sung Her powerful and long D5 note at the end entailed with silence after always gives me chills. 2 1
CottageHore Posted November 14 Posted November 14 My two favorite renditions of this song. They're both completely different vibes and I love Mariah's twist on it but Celine's version is so nostalgic to me and is like THE rendition of the song. The climax sends chills through my body I fear 2
suburbannature Posted November 14 Posted November 14 Anyone picking Celine's as better is lying to themselves, I fear. 3 2
MatiRod Posted November 14 Posted November 14 Love Celine but Mariah's vocals on "O Holy Night" are the most impressive sound ever produced by a human. And that was when auto tune didn't exist. She is belting in her whistle register. It's superhuman. 3
allforyou Posted November 14 Posted November 14 I love both of their versions so much but if I had to choose between one of them I would go with Mariah's, it's one of my all time favorite christmas songs 2
