Chappell hasn't released music in 8 months (since she blew up before summer)

is it smart to not strike iron while it's hot?

usually when a new artist experiences success for the first time they are pretty consistent with firing content over just a few months to keep the interest and hype going but this is different approach for a newcomer. do you like it or is it weird?

Girl be thankful she hasn't threatened us with more music. Let's not jinx it now :toofunny2:

She's wasting her hype tbh

It's kinda smart. She blew up with a song and has a whole album that people delve into for the time being which despite being a year old is treated as new. And releasing after the Grammys where the hype is the strongest if she wins will only build on it and explode to bigger heights. If she won AOTY and/or BNA and had a big performance releasing a new single with a new album announced could potentially be huge.

The fact that she performed The Giver just recently on SNL and haven't released it at all is just... :suburban:

its quite annoying. but maybe she is being advised to wait until after the grammys

It'll work great for her. Not releasing The Giver and Subway reminds me of how SZA didn't release Shirt or Good Days immediately and we had several snippets from the album years before it got released. It worked perfectly.

She's an artist not an entertainer and art takes time

This is pretty normal.  Especially while her existing discography is blowing up.  We know she is actively working on new music so let's give her a year before we start crying wolf.

SOUR alone is bigger than anything Chappell will ever do

She seems like the kind of artist who will struggle with the pressure of putting out new music.

she can only release if she's going to release bops, not the Broadway stuff, release a Doja feature and drag the media, idk

She has her whole past album smashing simultaneously which is kinda... I was gonna say unprecedented but then Lizzo came to mind.

I think they can't release anything until Good Luck Babe dies down too, she's in a weird predicament like Taylor where there's just songs from several eras taking off and sabotaging the latest album rollout.

That being said, success also seems to be her own personal hell which I'm sure is a big part of why she's taking a backseat at her prime too

And don't forget The Subway song she's been playing in concerts. :suburban:

It's fine since her album only started smashing this year so it feels like she released an album just this year. Once the hype around Midwest Princess dies down she can strike with the new album.

Plus she is managing to stay relevant in the news even without releasing music :celestial6:

Smart tbh. GLB is still top 10 and people started to play her debut.

She'll release next year and she'll have 2 big albums.

it was smart but now that GLB has run its course it's definitely time for a new single. she should've planned to release The Giver to coincide with SNL

One of the biggest and most acclaimed artists of her generation?

Her album has been in the top 10 for months and is still #6, so it seems understandable to still be riding out that success before releasing new music.

But on the other hand, if GLB is the lead single for the new album, then it's a bit weird to have a lead single out for 8 months with no follow up singles or album release date.

Her breakthrough with GLB! gave Midwest Princess a ressurgence and a lot of songs from that album got a lot of attention so it's kinda smart to keep the new songs for later on while people are still enjoying her previous album.

This is my ONLY distaste I think for the new era. It's too long between singles now. She should have put GLB on the recent Midwest Princess anniversary reissue vinyl as a bonus track along with Read and Make Out and Love Me Anyway.

Have The Giver be the actual lead single released next to the SNL performance and have The Subway on album 2.

Is better for her to push back and prioritize her health. We dont want a Breakdown in the future.
All that overworking from the popgirls in the past is one of the reason why they crashed real fast and dont have ambition anymore
Better if she takes her time to relax and come with good songs.

I mean I'm assuming we'll get music in January or February?
