Strawberry Bubble Posted yesterday at 02:14 AM Posted yesterday at 02:14 AM Was it a loss of passion for music? Not enough money? Or maybe something behind the scenes we'll never know about? What's the real story behind Rihanna stepping back from music?
Loca Posted yesterday at 02:15 AM Posted yesterday at 02:15 AM It's always been nothing but business for her and she found more profit in a different industry 11 1
TedMiracle Posted yesterday at 02:16 AM Posted yesterday at 02:16 AM She is making way more money while doing less of work. 1 2
Polgg48 Posted yesterday at 02:19 AM Posted yesterday at 02:19 AM no matter how successful she is, she always under jay-z command radar and bunch of loons in industry following her 24/7, side-business makes sense to break her own brand to become one of her own and here she is now. 1 3
vuelve88 Posted yesterday at 02:20 AM Posted yesterday at 02:20 AM Rihanna decided to take an extended vacation in the land of beauty and fashion! I mean, who wouldn't want to swap out music tours for launching a billion-dollar makeup line and saving the world with her philanthropy? It's like she looked at her schedule and thought, "You know what sounds fun? World domination via Fenty!" Plus, let's be real, she's probably out there making the rest of us feel bad about our skincare routines while casually dropping hits whenever she feels like it. 2
MP3 Posted yesterday at 02:21 AM Posted yesterday at 02:21 AM She doesn't want to take the risk that her music impact her company's sales
Slap Posted yesterday at 02:22 AM Posted yesterday at 02:22 AM (edited) Because she is probably concerned she will flop or there will be the inevitable hate train that follows all female artists later in their career. She dipped at the perfect time to retain a perfect run on the charts and she's making so much money. That said the Johnny Depp thing wasn't cute and her wasting her best song on a duet Chris Brown literally kills me. Edited yesterday at 02:22 AM by Slap 1 1

Instant upvote for praising the masterpiece that NB is OT: She's still making the money, so she doesn't care 1
gab00 Posted yesterday at 02:25 AM Posted yesterday at 02:25 AM She just doesnt like it enough. Maybe is not recording music per se what she dislikes but the whole promotion/interviews/touring/attending ceremonies thing. 1
Kiss It Better Posted yesterday at 03:08 AM Posted yesterday at 03:08 AM the disrespect she got during Anti era might be the start: Tidal leaking the album, critics initially trashed the album, 0/8 at the Grammys among others at the same time, she was already working on Fenty Beauty since like 2014, then it became so huge followed by SavageXFenty and Fenty maison that even got her to billionaire status followed by whatever she made in 2019 not being good enough (to her liking at least, cause none of us have heard it), pandemic (which canceled tour plans), pregnancies and at this point closing to 9 years since Anti, might as well just retire as a legend with billionaire status rather than dropping R9 then if it's not good enough and drop her into Katy Perry status 2
Devin Posted yesterday at 03:08 AM Posted yesterday at 03:08 AM she was unhappy and didn't like the baggage that comes with being a popstar. 1
Rep2000 Posted yesterday at 03:09 AM Posted yesterday at 03:09 AM Money. She is now a billionaire without catering to every whims and outrages of the internet. She's set for generations now. 3
rebeltwat Posted yesterday at 03:27 AM Posted yesterday at 03:27 AM Music was never a passion for her and her business ventures are more lucrative 1
rhaenyra Posted yesterday at 03:29 AM Posted yesterday at 03:29 AM Simple answer? She has little to no input in her music so most of what she makes from her discography goes to the other people Her businesses and ventures out of music are what made her a billionaire. If we were in her situation, we'd definitely choose the more lucrative route
WaterDiamonds Posted yesterday at 03:34 AM Posted yesterday at 03:34 AM (edited) People saying that the reason was just money as if at some point during 2019-2021 she wasn't actively working on both music and fenty... Personally, I think she just doesn't know what to do with her music career and she's still burn out after working non stop for 11 years straight, I feel like she's also a perfectionist and didn't feel like the music she was doing was a good enough follow up for Anti. Imma cut the avon seller #1 some slack bc she has big shoes to fill after that album, and fans would go insane if she released something that didn't live up to their steadily increasing expectations. YourHonesty Posted yesterday at 04:12 AM Posted yesterday at 04:12 AM Grueling release schedule + limited creative control + mismanagement of funds by her accountant + diminishing revenue due to streaming She gave us so much but I'm sure her experience wasn't the best. Now she's in full control doing something she actually likes and making more than any artist could ever dream of 2
Alldeezy Posted yesterday at 04:15 AM Posted yesterday at 04:15 AM better money in fashion/makeup I guess plus she was making music non stop from 2005 - 2016 I guess she burnt herself out 1
itshyolee Posted yesterday at 04:29 AM Posted yesterday at 04:29 AM Well I mean she had to fund so many of her projects during her early eras and went on to push out album after album for 7 years straight. I'd be worn tf out too. Say what you want, but Rih put that work in. 42 minutes ago, Kiss It Better said: the disrespect she got during Anti era might be the start: Tidal leaking the album, critics initially trashed the album, 0/8 at the Grammys among others This is plausible too. I remember the hate ANTI got as well as the messy rollout. It's like she took the time and effort to put together an incredible body of work just for it to get leaked and shitted on, when people always criticized her for being a "fast food" artist and dropping albums right after the other. That would be enough to make anybody move on from music and onto other things. 1
sparrowblue Posted yesterday at 04:35 AM Posted yesterday at 04:35 AM (edited) whatever happened behind the scenes during that messy time 2014-2015 with the flops and delays. and then the ANTI album leak, harsh critics, and grammys snubs which it was definitely a better record than most of all the other noms. Edited yesterday at 04:36 AM by sparrowblue
Gladiator Posted yesterday at 04:36 AM Posted yesterday at 04:36 AM I think originally she just wanted to pursue other passions and interests that were very likely her primary interest for a while that music and success helped get her foot in the door to be able to pursue and support financially in whatever way that was needed and then over time she realized she just liked not putting out music and the "freedom" that provided her.
memeboy Posted yesterday at 04:38 AM Posted yesterday at 04:38 AM probably the pressure of releasing anti follow up, more money in make up, everything that comes with releasing an album and there are theories saying that she was abused in the industry and a lot of dark energy that she perhaps tried to stay away from.
BlueBlue Posted yesterday at 04:40 AM Posted yesterday at 04:40 AM She was pop star only to become rich lady one day. She accomplished that during unapologetic and after that she stopped caring about music
lonnie Posted yesterday at 06:00 AM Posted yesterday at 06:00 AM I don't think she ever had an easy time during her whole music career. She was basically being dismissed as a one hit wonder and being threatened to be dropped from her first album to having her most recent album leaked by her own team and dragged by everyone from critics to pop enthusiasts, and when you factor in the paying for her own videos, tours etc and being constantly worked to the point of dehydration and literal collapse, and not even factoring in what happened during Chris's abuse or her accountants stealing from her or just how shitty people were to her for years, the years away from music are probably the most peaceful and happiest years of her life. Even as a fan who did want her to release for years I understand why she'd stay away from the industry. Even I don't understand it when this site keeps asking why she's not releasing like y'all didn't like her when she was releasing either and it just goes to show that people really just start wanting something when they know they'll possibly not have it
