Why is The Rock a Main Actor?

Recommended Posts

I watched "Red One" yesterday (and that movie was boring af) and it made me question why The Rock is a major actor of Hollywood? I've never seen an actor of his caliber to be very one dimensional. He looks like he's always bored af. His eyes can't express anything. Why is this guy so big in Hollywood? I will never understand.

Versatility is a pretty overrated metric by stans in general

Doing one iconic role/niche/trope incredibly well is more useful especially if it's one seen as badass like the rock.

Idk, people like his memes I guess? :suburban:

Fun fact, supposedly he made the company lose $50M for this movie's budget, because he kept showing up too late. A Hollywood poison confirmed :suburban::suburban:

Closeted gays always are. Look at Tom Cruise

popularity (that came from his wrestling days) and (a lot of industry) connections

He fills a hole in the film industry which was once filled by Hulk Hogan.

Did you ever see him in his prime?

He is one of the most beautiful and charismatic men who has ever lived. He also has great comedic timing and from how I see him interact with other stars, he seems easy to work with.

Uhm... You probably didn't hear about his poor work ethic during the filming of Red One.

the media almost never reports on men's unprofessional behavior the way they do with women (maybe because people don't care to crucify them as much as well) plus the industry protects them a lot more too

And didn't.

One doesn't maintain a two decades long career in the entertainment industry without a strong work ethic though so…. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

He is (or was until recently?) a huge box office draw so he was booked and busy with Hollywood blockbuster movies. We love to see POC actors winning :clap3: + he is super hot

He can also wrestle me anytime :smitten:

I remember when he quit wrestling the first time and started in this jungle comedy movie in the early 2000's and he kinda just stuck with it since a lot of people loved it. And to be fair he does best in family comedy drama roles. But ironically he keeps doing action movies and his comedy is the same every film. So yeah lack of range. It worked in the 2000's but now he is over exposed

he found his niche and sticks to it for the most part. being a typecast is not necessarily a bad thing, you can build a stable career out of it.

also i do not believe for one second that he is lazy, just maintaining his physique alone must be a lot of work.

Is he though? He's a leading man in a lot of quick lil movies purely for entertainment, but I don't think he's ever been in anything considered kino

You do when you're a man. Just look at Johnny Depp, only reason he didn't maintain it in recent years is because all his projects have been bombing for over a decade now (and even after everything else we know that has happened he's still booking gigs now) :skull: and there's many other examples, let alone the ones we don't know about because they always have powerful people covering their asses.

Ok.

This doesn't apply to The Rock. His track record is literally undeniable.

Timing and his looks, before social media people who looked "raceless" were very popular because they had appeal to the masses. Include the growing US and world population of Hispanic and Muslim people and his career was locked in fast. Most guys can fantasize about being him because he's lighter skinned and looks like a superhero like they want to be. His acting is not important, he can fill seats and men and women love him, he's also a Trumptard.

WWE made him a household name, he tested well in his first few movies and then became likeable enough in the 2000s to become A-List.

Track record of mediocrity? He's literally just a powerful man that is likable to the masses but ok.

Charisma and mediocre can never be in the same sentence. I hope this helps :)

Charisma is a subjective quality because even if you have ability to attract the attention of certain people, there's always gonna be others who don't like you, so it most certainly can. :bird:
