HeavyMetalAura Posted November 7 Posted November 7 She's valid to feel how she feels, and lord knows I'd never be able to handle even a fraction of the hate most celebrities get these days, but it's interesting hearing her say this about positions. I know it's not her most beloved work, but imagine if she put out a Bionic or an ARTPOP or a Witness. 2

The only complain I have is that some songs are too short and feel not fully developed but other than that, the album is great. Her fans were crazy on Twitter and would @ her openly hating it and wanting her back to the old era, aka TUN, which was a very traumatic time for her. She gotten alot of hate and I think was more towards her own fans (a lot of them were insane). However she said in the interview she understands that ppl will have opinions but she is human. I am a super sensitive person too, so I understand her in that sense. 1 1 1

She said she will still do pop but isn't going to be like 2018-2020 where she did three albums per year and a soundtrack for a movie and live performance album in the same year as TUN. She is going to wait a while between albums.
SharGaga Posted November 8 Posted November 8 (edited) I loved how much her voice grew on this record. In terms of tone it really felt like she ascended to DaydreamRiah on this record. It did feel a bit underwhelming for her standards. But in terms of vocal layering and vocal production she did what needed to be done. Production & melody or lyrically it did feel a bit stale at times. Edited November 8 by SharGaga
Gladiator Posted November 8 Posted November 8 I don't know how you can like all her music and then suddenly not like positions. It's like the quintessential Ariana album with her signature soundscape. 2
shoganai Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Tearing apart female musicians is Internet's favorite sport sadly

Perhaps you're unfamiliar with what an interview is, but more importantly log out and touch some grass. Getting all worked up over a soundbite my goodness Edited November 8 by Blue Monday
psychodiva336 Posted November 8 Posted November 8 It's so sad to read that. I loved Positions when it came out and after 4 years I still think it's the best album she ever put out. It's fantastic in terms of vocals, very airy and fun in its production, lyrically versatile, and borrows a bit from everything that made Ari so great to begin with: ballads, club bangers, slow vibes, fun pop songs... What a shame she feels that way. Oh well. Congrats to the Internet I guess
JonginBey Posted November 8 Posted November 8 She's right and she should say it. Her white stans showed their true colors with that album
LustSpell Posted November 8 Posted November 8 The pop stans came HARD for this album. I remember that
atrl lives matter Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Does she do anything besides complain? Like if she wasn't on her phone 24/7 this wouldn't affect her at all lol. She honestly receives the least complaints and backlash out of all the pop girls. 3

Her white stans showed their true colors with that album lets talk about it. i absolutely loathe her and didnt listen to the album until a year after it's release because my job always played POV and I LOVED it and wondered what the rest of the album sounded like and I actually loved it? shortly after i saw a tweet from one of her black fans pointing out how her white stans react to her "urban" features and how positions was her most "urban" album and a lot of her white stans told on themselves in the comments. 1
LoveInStereo Posted November 8 Posted November 8 (edited) The way she describes the trajectory of the album's reception as "we don't want this" to "best thing she'll ever make" is so hyperbolic. It's not her most hated or her most loved album, it's always just been there & that's actually most ppl's problem with it. It's not interesting enough to be despised. Sweetener is the album she's describing! Edited November 8 by LoveInStereo 1
Cleanromantic Posted November 8 Posted November 8 (edited) Positions is one of her best albums. Edited November 8 by Cleanromantic 1
dawnettakins Posted November 8 Posted November 8 You can hardly even follow what she's trying to say, just meandering and barely even saying a thing. Is it the text here or just how she speaks? 1

Crazy part is I feel like Positions wasn't too far off from Sweetener and TUN, so it being poorly received like that made no sense to me, especially when a lot of her white stans swear up and down Sweetener or TUN are her best albums. 2
