Vespertine Posted November 4 Posted November 4 A little reminder on Election Eve of Gwen's impact. Truly no other pop girl has changed the course of history like this! https://people.com/politics/michael-moore-claims-gwen-stefani-was-reason-donald-trump-ran-president/ Quote Michael Moore has made the startling claim that Gwen Stefani was the reason Donald Trump ran for the presidency. The Fahrenheit 11/9 alleged in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday that Trump, 72, decided to announce his candidacy for president after he learned Stefani, 48, made more money as a coach on NBC's The Voice than he did when he starred on The Apprentice. Moore, 64, claimed Trump organized his infamous Trump Tower campaign announcement as a way to show NBC he was more popular. NBC began airing The Apprentice in 2004. "He'd been talking about running for president since 1998, but he didn't really want to be president," Moore told THR. "There's no penthouse in the White House. And he doesn't want to live in a black city. He was trying to pit NBC against another network, but it just went off the rails." Notice that Trump thirstily posted a throwback photo with Gwen on his Facebook about a month after she announced that she was joining the Voice https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10154194472585725&id=153080620724&set=a.488852220724 3

Vespertine Posted November 4 Author Posted November 4 Reminder that Gwen also basically got the Pussycat Dolls signed to Interscope and caused them to look for singers. How many pop girls have this kind of impact? https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/lifestyle/2006/04/21/the-cats-meow-give-the-dolls-their-due/5f4c7f2e-99bc-469a-b58b-931fd5796abf/ https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-2006-nov-26-ca-iovine26-story.html Quote The Dolls' risque rep began to get bigger in 2000, when Gwen Stefani asked to sit in - dancing and singing - on "Big Spender." The troupe moved to the larger Roxy, and soon the list of celebrity Dolls included Electra, Christina Aguilera, Brittany Murphy, Charlize Theron, ***** Costa, Pamela Anderson, Paris Hilton and Scarlett Johansson. When Stefani brought her Interscope bosses Jimmy Iovine and Ron Fair to see the show, Antin realized it might be time to expand the concept and find singers. Quote "A lot of record executives are solo acts," says Iovine, his leg draped over the side of his favorite chair. "But I want everybody's ideas. I'm talking about the people at the company, and producers and artists as well. They are all gigantic allies in setting the tone for the company. Gwen brought me the Pussycat Dolls. 2

She was a major influence on one of that decade's biggest newcomers (Gaga), her style paved way for the likes of Fergie and Nelly Furtado to dominate the mid-2000s, which in turn informed the electro-dance-pop of the club boom. Her zany lyricism and rap-singing parts braced people for the likes of Kesha and Cher Lloyd and dozens of others in the early 2010s, and her impact can still be felt in albums like Brat. That is not even looking at the massive impact No Doubt had on reggae and female-fronted rock in general, and also how her intertwinement with the Lilith Fair scene helped usher in the introspective works by the big pop divas in the late 1990s. She obviously wasn't the only driver of all these trends, but she has the distinction of being present at all of these scenes and if nothing else this at least tells us that Gwen has always had her finger on the pulse of pop music. Stream The Real Thing everyone. She was the one who low key revived dance pop in the mid 2000s and was the first to revisit 80s nostalgia sounds. The retro new wave of "Cool" opened the doors to a lot of sounds that are still popular now. 5
