okgo Posted November 4 Posted November 4 After an acclaimed Broadway debut as well as successful book and documentary releases in recent years, Pamela Anderson's role in The Last Showgirl is being hailed as a pivotal and powerful performance and represents a significant turning point in her career, as it is only her first major dramatic project after decades of being typecast in lighter roles. Known primarily for the 90s phenomenon Baywatch, iconic bombshell image and other often unserious projects, Pamela wasn't considered for roles that required serious emotional depth. In this film, however, her portrayal of a seasoned Las Vegas showgirl who faces an uncertain future after her show closes has been widely praised for its authenticity and vulnerability, with critics describing her performance as "heartbreaking" and "sensational". The role has allowed her to demonstrate an emotional range that was largely unrecognized in her previous work and has already earned her multiple festival awards, marking a new chapter in her career and sparking what critics are calling the "Pamaissance". The Last Showgirl is set to be one of this year's most surprising cinematic releases, offering Pamela Anderson fans—and film lovers in general—a performance they might never have expected. The film, directed by Gia Coppola, is set to receive a limited release by Roadside Attractions in the United States on December 13, before a wide expansion on January 10. Sony Pictures acquired all remaining international distribution rights. With supporting performances from Jamie Lee Curtis, Dave Bautista, Brenda Song, Kiernan Shipka, and Billie Lourd, an original song performed by Miley Cyrus and co-written with Andrew Wyatt and Lykke Li, and gorgeous costuming by the legendary Bob Mackie, film audiences can look forward to an emotional journey that captures both the glamour and struggle of showbiz, anchored by Anderson's revelatory performance. Are you surprised by Pamela's ability to reinvent herself with such a serious, acclaimed role in an industry that typically disregards women like her forever? 11
KahnumDash Posted November 4 Posted November 4 yes and i am SO here for it, she looks stunning and even though i'll be getting a facelift the minute i hit 30, i am obsessed with her embracing ageing 2
SoldierofLove Posted November 4 Posted November 4 Absolutely and I am here for it! She could've gone down the sad path that women like Anna Nicole Smith were led to. 1
Popular Post prézli Posted November 4 Popular Post Posted November 4 Her and Demi Moore are the biggest winners of the year. NEVER underestimate a woman over 55. 15
Venice B Posted November 4 Posted November 4 She deserves all of this tbh. What she went through because of that sex tape must have been hell, so it's so nice to see her getting the recognition she deserves because of her TALENT so many years laters. I'm 100% here for this and I can't wait to watch that legendary movie 2
okgo Posted November 4 Author Posted November 4 (edited) Ironically enough, the story of how she got this role is kinda depressing but illustrative of just how tough and almost miraculous it is for her to get to this point. Her previous talent agency turned it down without even letting her know about it because they "didn't think she had it in" her thankfully Gia really wanted Pam and bothered to reach out to her again via her son: she's also been booking more acting projects, and stuff she never would have been able to in the past: Edited November 4 by okgo 2
Hector Posted November 4 Posted November 4 She's rewritten her own narrative on her terms and I love that for her 1
P.O.P Posted November 4 Posted November 4 I love that women like her or Jennifer Coolidge getting their flowers BUT I am also disturbed by a specific pattern. It only happens to women of a certain age and when they don't seem to a "threat" anymore, if that makes sense. 1
Cheeky Posted November 4 Posted November 4 I'm very happy for her. She's great and deserves all the flowers. 1
Flanders Posted November 4 Posted November 4 She looks amazing and so refreshing to see somebody looking just natural and owning it 1
Ponzi Posted November 4 Posted November 4 Yes, she's amazing. I'm so proud of sharing a birthday with her

It's kinda weird how they would crushed certain roles in their 30s but they were given to a "serious actress" Edited November 4 by Digitalism
