Josh Posted November 3 Posted November 3 Which album do you prefer? Which era had the better singles? The Fame The Fame Monster Best aesthetic?
JoeAg Posted November 3 Posted November 3 prefer The Fame, which also had superior singles I'm sorry but any album that closes with something as perfect as Summerboy will always win TFM wins for aesthetic though 1
Just a Gay on ATRL Posted November 3 Posted November 3 The Fame Monster EASILY, TFM is arugably the most perfect filler-free pop record I've eve heard, and one of the best album concepts.
ChooseyLover Posted November 3 Posted November 3 I've listened nothing but Gaga's discography these past few weeks and for me the answer is The Fame.
Junipero Posted November 3 Posted November 3 When I was a preteen/teen I liked the "in your face" visuals of the Fame Monster; you really got swept into Gaga's world. As an adult, I now prefer the "simpler" image of The Fame; not too in your face, but still unique to stand out.
blastoisebaby Posted November 3 Posted November 3 I think it's hard to say TBH. Because of the length differences, sound scape differences, mood differences etc Also from track 8-12 for me on The Fame minus Brown Eyes - I never revisit But would say the rest of the record for me is a better and easier lesson. Where as I always revisist the entire TFM era minus Teeth. However I feel like The fame's impact is insane - We had Nicki,Beyonce,Katy etc experimenting with more out there and avant garde fashion senses and aesthetics. Plus the entire Synthy,Dance Pop sound basically became mainstream because of Gaga and I'd say Kesha. All that said The Fame has better songs overall - in terms of digestability, they're very light and easy to listen to when it comes to the GP and I think I also prefer the songwriting in most cases. Whereas I feel TFM is very niche, fan favorites ,although massive hits as well, I normally hear people refer to either Born This way or Just Dance,Paparazzi and Poker Face other than Bad Romance in reference to Gaga. Not sure if this makes sense,I love both tho. But if I had to do a mini analysis ,I'd say the above. Although to me Alejandro clears everything on both. WOW!
wastedpotential Posted November 3 Posted November 3 (edited) I randomly felt the urge to listen to The Fame last night for the first time in probably over a year (I guess lashing GaGa just makes me want to listen to more GaGa, funnily enough), and it's far less dated than I remember it being TFM is tighter and has less trimmable fat, but I think TF is just... more enjoyable to listen to. In terms of singles, Paparazzi > Alejandro > Poker Face > Eh Eh (don't come for me) > Just Dance > Bad Romance > LoveGame > Telephone, so I think TF wins there too. However, in terms of lewks and aesthetics, TFM just DEVOURS. You can tell the budget was quintupled between the two Spoiler If GaGa had gotten off her ass and pushed DITD globally, then the singles competition might be a bit closer, but she hates giving people what they want Edited November 3 by wastedpotential
Nazareth Posted November 3 Posted November 3 It's a tough choice, but TFM lowkey clears all choices when you think about it.
Dante Silva Posted November 3 Posted November 3 The 'super jewel case' CD version of the original album has by far the best aesthetic and all those lovely dirt cheap 7" Vinyl Picture discs (from just before the vinyl revival took off, when vinyl was still dirt cheap). I love the nostalgia of the platinum blonde hair with bangs and a bow from the original album, but "Dance In The Dark" was cheated as it never really had a push and there was no video.
alexrex Posted November 3 Posted November 3 The Fame Monster for all, of course. But I gotta appreciate The Fame for introducing Lady Gaga to the world, and it's also an iconic album
