nostalgia Posted November 3 Posted November 3 Nicki Minaj is lowkey the tragic figure of the rap game, like, think about it—she's been in the industry for over 2 decades, yet it's been a constant uphill battle for respect. In a way, she's like the Shakespearean tragic hero of hip-hop, where the protagonist is super talented but faces endless conflicts. But with the fame came the drama, and let's be real, Nicki's been through it all, from beefs with other artists to industry politics trying to downplay her legacy. Even though she's got bars for days and has influenced an entire generation, she's constantly fighting for her flowers. People love to pit her against other female rappers, making it a nonstop battle to prove she's still on top. It's like the industry never wanted her to win, and that hits different when she's literally out here putting in the work. And don't get it twisted—Nicki's not perfect, but her flaws just make her more relatable to the fans who see her as a real person, not just a superstar. Every time she rises, there's always some new controversy or backlash, almost like fate is determined to make her struggle. She's the blueprint, but she's also the one constantly torn down by the same system she helped build. In a way, Nicki is a tragic icon—a figure who's loved, misunderstood, and sometimes even villainized, all while staying true to herself. 1 1 1 3

GentleDance Posted November 3 Posted November 3 Quote Nicki Minaj is lowkey the tragic figure of the rap game Yes.
EnigmaticAndroid Posted November 3 Posted November 3 Yes. She's Queen Lear. All her daughters fighting and conspiring against her for what's left of her land, only to end with all of them flopping. 1 5 1
burninredhot Posted November 3 Posted November 3 (edited) I think she would get the respect she wants if she stayed offline but she clearly can't do that Edited November 3 by burninredhot 2
WEEKND Posted November 3 Posted November 3 Good lord hopefully not and I don't think anybody would wanna be Shakespearean lmao. That'd mean you're about to lose a child a father a mother or a limb.
Mordecai Posted November 3 Posted November 3 Don't come for me lol but Nicki reminds me of Aretha Franklin, despite both being at the top of their respective genres they were both very insecure, jealous of and threatened by their peers. Only difference is Nicki's peak was in the social media era so she's exposed herself and her dirty laundry is easier to air, that and rap is a less respected genre If Nicki didn't buy into the whole 'there can only be one female rapper' mindset and didn't have a nasty streak when it came to other women she'd be more respected. She comes across as bitter and it's not a good look 5 2 1
rhaenyra Posted November 3 Posted November 3 No, she's just tragic Her present and future is/will be full of struggle and anguish, most of it self-inflicted. She has brought this on herself
Bey_Rihstan Posted November 3 Posted November 3 (edited) oh please. Nicki thrives off of drama and mess and has since she surfaced a decade and a half ago. But here's the kicker… she also Loves to be the victim. Sis has obvious internal issues. Plus, she squanders any type of good press she gets by logging onto X or opening her big piehole. 95% of the reason she's perceived the way she is, is because of her own behavior. - Getting pissed at Latto for telling her not to mention her after they had a falling out behind the scenes?!? - RAGING out at the Megan's law bar that didn't directly mention her?!? (After she had thrown 3 years worth of shots at Megan, mind you.) - releasing a laughable diss track while grasping onto a crown that no one else really wants - attacking another Black woman for a Blackfishing funny looking white lady solely because they had a single together? - literally calling lil Kim a nappy headed monkey and throwing shots… while pretending she wasn't throwing shots at her? - marrying a rapist and lying about the race of her husbands victim to rile the Black community up? Calling a case of rape… old tea? like… I could literally go on nicki is a Black Woman in rap, so yes she faces scrutiny, I won't deny that. But to pretend like she's some martyr that gets attacked for no reason is wild as hell. Nicki would get more respect if she was just a full on *****. She wants to be the female 50 Cent but can't handle the head in the kitchen. You can't pretend to be a conniving bully AND a victim. Pick a side pick a side Edited November 3 by Bey_Rihstan 2 6 1
Bey_Rihstan Posted November 3 Posted November 3 And one more thing… Nicki contradicts herself a lot. When she's into it with Cardi it's… oof! Let's get in the booth! Come write! Real rap! But when she had respected lyricists like Lil Kim and Remy Ma on her head, it was all about charts and sales. another reason she isn't taken as seriously as she could be in rap. She barely takes it seriously herself 4 1

blackoutbaby Posted November 3 Posted November 3 She's the queen and the hero of the story, I fear. Haters like that user with the Brandy pic above can stay pressed, cause facts are facts!

Carla Rosón Posted November 3 Posted November 3 her evil, r*pe apologist and victim-harassing ass will never be a victim
Princess Aurora Posted November 3 Posted November 3 She's a bit like Lady Macbeth. She married a cursed man and is now paying the consequences by agreeing with him.....
Wicked Posted November 3 Posted November 3 This site got the Kleenex out for a woman that bullies the survivor of her husbands sexual assault. Y'all an interesting bunch of characters. Pick a side pick a side This is my problem with her musically... she not about that life. I genuinely expected her response to Hiss to be on some 'Back Down' **** and we instead got Big Foot. Needs a new management team and a project that actually penetrates the wider hip hop audience. 1
