BOMT hits 1B views on YouTube while GIAB struggles to hit 280M, why?!

Two of the most iconic popstars that started at the same time in the late 90's and their first music videos (ok, Xtina has Reflection but we all ignore this one). One has recently reached 1B views on YouTube while the other struggles to reach 280M. What happened?

If you check both videos' upload dates, both say 15 years ago.

BOMT is simply the bigger song. Britney also does better on streaming than Christina. As seen on their Spotify pages for example. Toxic has more streams than any Christina song.

One is an iconic, timeless debut and the other not. One artist is a solo artist to the GP while the other is more known for a feature

So a random spin counts more than +700m views and better Spotify numbers?! Oh, okay.

It's not really that shocking. I love GIAB (the song) but I don't think anyone really thinks of music videos when they think of Xtina (who also entered major flop territory earlier than Britney did). Xtina is iconic for her voice.

When you think of Britney, you definitely think of videos first. She's iconic for specific outfits and dances.

GIAB aged better. :michael: As a Britney, I always preferred GIAB over BOMT. BOMT is bigger, though.

Is the solo artist the one that twirls in Instagram?

Genie is a classic in its own right and doesn't need to be compared to the more iconic and incomparable classic BOMT. You would all be perched if any of the current pop girlies released a song as good as Genie - so this isn't shade.

KIIS and Z100 spin it regularly. In fact KIIS played BOMT yesterday, along with Toxic and OIDIA.

Xtinas debut other singels were all better than its lead and the video is just OK ish. BOMT is much more impactful.
