Trash Posted November 1 Posted November 1 15 minutes ago, Cheers said: wait what? I thought she just killed her daughter She did both, simultaneously. Spoiler And then went on to bury/dump the babies body and to this day pretends she forgot where Spoiler And then she went and acted all innocent after the gp took her back and has done some sort of tribute to the baby like a tv special or something (or so I remember)

Her career was really considered over, dead and buried in 2001-2003. To not only come back from that, but return with one of the biggest comebacks of all time and the song of the decade
ShadeIena Posted November 1 Posted November 1 Selena had a whole hate train during 2017-18 and she still scored smashes during 2017-18 and then LYTLM , Ice Cream. Baila Conmigo & Calm Down 4

GeminiCat Posted November 1 Posted November 1 Doja had 3 legit cancel worthy scandals back to back to back last year (the bf, hating fans allegations, sweatshirt gate) and rebounded with 2 mega smashas, first female rapper to headline Coachella and a sold out debut arena tour. She has multiple songs in her back catalogue trending on tiktok daily and her image is currently rehabilitating ahead of her confirmed upcoming pop n b album 6
Rico Shameless v2 Posted November 2 Posted November 2 I guess Madonna during American Life would be the closest. The US news cycle & political commenters were taking her down and nothing had a chance to land from that era. Erotica wasn't that crazy. It got a lot of praise. Britney to a certain degree. But that wasn't a cancellation either. Just nobody expected her to deliver like she did with Blackout then get back to superstar form just under a year later from that album. None of the others mentioned really qualify. A "hate train" or a weird online controversy didn't greatly effect any of the names mentioned. Just a moment of blogs and the Internet dragging (donutgate, Doja incel situation, etc) Someone saying Taylor, lol.. 2
Bey_Rihstan Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Whitney Houston in 09. Wouldn't necessarily say she was cancelled but she received terrible press from like 01 to when she left Bobby Brown in the late 2000's. managed to get another platinum, number one album as a 45 year old woman in the EDM era 2
Aristede Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Sinead O'Connor - She was vilified everywhere for ripping up the picture of the Pope on SNL. But then later she was proven right about sexual abuse in the Catholic church. Then (especially after her death), people acknowledged how messed up it was that she lost her career for speaking out and how ahead of her time she really was. 5
PerfectCure Posted November 2 Posted November 2 90% of the artists mentioned here were disliked at worst rather than cancelled. I think Lindsay Lohan fits this topic although she's not reached the ultimate loved-by-everyone destination yet. I can see it in a few years though. Her recovery path after so much media scrutiny between 2007 and 2020ish is nothing short of impressive. 6

ACaseOfBlues Posted November 2 Posted November 2 No new names to add, but just want to highlight how unfortunate it is that we have to say pop girl. The boys, on the other hand, can get away with literally anything. 5 3
Buffy Posted November 2 Posted November 2 I think Lindsay Lohan….? Was she ever cancelled or did she just sort of fade away? She's back and better than ever now! 1

punisher Posted November 3 Posted November 3 everyone stopped caring about the drugging men thing after WAP
Wicked Posted November 3 Posted November 3 I can't think of anyone that got 'canceled' and didn't rebound unless they got locked up or passed away. Did Sia release anything after that film about autism? Just now, punisher said: everyone stopped caring about the drugging men thing after WAP Nobody ever really cared about that, excuses was made about that (because of people interesting ideas around sex work and customers and what should happen to them) and some clip of her saying she didn't really drug them instead she got them really drunk started circulating. I think it's interesting she admitted to having men beat women up and nobody blinked. They was out here sending women to the ER on her behalf.

Truly one of the most interesting (to say the least) career archs in music history
spiritboy Posted November 3 Posted November 3 Only those who were alive in 1992 can really understand the hate Madonna got. Back then internet didn't exist and she was vilified and was the most hated woman on planet earth.
