Girl, he still said he wanted to rape a pregnant woman..... How does that make anything better? You guys crucify pop girls for HUGGING people.

He was banned from multiple countries for years (and still is banned from a few I think)

He actually dealt with real world consequences not just social media hate trains that have no impact on his life. People aren't necessarily defending the actual lyrics they're saying this has been dealt with already a decade ago. Bringing it up and painting it as if he just never got questioned or held accountable over those songs and tweets is revisionist history.

What do Black Americans (a whole group of people) have to do with Tyler saying the swifties were racist to him or with him being a weirdo with his lyrics? Y'all really can't hide your slip even if you wanted to can you :rip:

EXACTLY. They are proving his damn point :ahh:

Also, for all the people bringing up Eminem: Tyler was heavily influenced by him as a kid, hence the inflammatory/shock lyrics. The difference here being that Tyler was A TEENAGER when he wrote those songs while Marshall was a grown ass ADULT when he was writing his disturbing songs and saying the f-slur all willy nilly. You tell me what's worse. A middle-aged Emniem even called Tyler (a bisexual man) the f-slur because Tyler didn't like his MMLP2 album and dared to say it out loud in some interview. Em apologized to him but still...

Tyler grew up quick but because he's black, those early songs are gon' forever follow him around like a scarlet letter for some.

"Horrorcore" sounds so dumb :skull:

Just say he grew up and moved on from his (very nasty) earlier work.

i agree with him conceptually but his energy in that video is so off.

Horrorcore has been a sub genre since the 90's

Gravediggaz, Geto Boyz, Three 6 Mafia, Insane Clown Posse, D12, Eminem have all fallen in the category

It's funny how this website constantly attacks female artists for things they have said and done in the past because they have to be held accountable for their behaviors (Camila being an example) but suddenly, when it's a man talking about raping a pregnant woman, it's suddenly in the past and people bringing it up are « sick ». You guys are stupid hypocrites over some childish fan wars and for the sake of hating someone.

Boop.

This makes sense, but I think the point a lot of people in this thread are making is that for most popular female artists, genuine apologies are often not enough and they continue to get lashed to this day for things said and done when they were much younger.  He already apologized (I think?) so he should just ignore people brining it up again.  Those who are currently trying him will move on in a few months because... he's a man.

What did he say in the video that they should listen to?

"Go listen to xxx I don't care"

The song with the rape lyrics.

It's almost as if he didn't stand for those lyrics anymore he wouldn't have said that or he would've taken the song down. Those are very graphic lyrics across multiple songs so as long as those are still up… well

I seriously don't understand people defending that. This whole "old me" bs is just an excuse to not take accountability.

Except Tyler actually was a man about it and held himself accountable for the things he said. He apologized, grew up and rebranded himself and it never happened again. Trying to to attack him all over again for his past mistake is stupid.

Was it a nice thing to say? No. But didn't we hear worse from our peers when we were 19 or younger? and didn't most of them grow up and turn out fine?

You're talking about social media lashings when he had charges brought up against him in foreign countries for his lyrics and banned. If anything he's been held accountable more than literally any woman mentioned itt.

The truth is that it's a bunch of people who have no idea who he is until he took some Spotify slot talking about cancel him for **** that was discussed and he got a hammer on him over for years. Not some **** people moved on from overnight.

Taking issue with the lyrics and tweets is fine, but this act like omg he's only getting away with this cause he's a man is just ignorant and means you have an insular music experience, cause until Flower Boy maybe Tyler had a wholly terrible reputation :deadbanana4:

I'm sorry did Camila and them get banned from several countries and got charged for what they did ? Did Tyler ever mention it again when it came time to promote his new album like some of these girls did?

Didn't some Swifties performed a very racist lynching of a Kanye pinata, last year? Tyler you should have kicked them harder.

It's not like he was being serious :skull: He's always been a troll. Kinda like Lil Nas X, if he had an artistic vision besides trolling christians

Trolling about rape is  inexcusable, I know y'all like to tussle on here but I'm not a swiftie and objectively speaking a lot of the things he said in the past were really horrendous

Also he was 21 at the time, 3 years older than Selena. Not some of yall acting like he was a full-grown adult past 25 years old when he wrote that. Also Tyler was notorious for being a troll and playing offensive characters for his eras. If you think he meant that, I'm sry you were duped.

2000-2012 was the years when comedy was extremely offensive and went to gross degrees of heinousness. Literally South Park and Family Guy were taking the world by storm and everyone and their mother thought jokes about sexual assault, rape and calling women derogatory terms was funny.  I am not defending him but compared to other things said by some of our faves, this is tame.

We are talking about the Shane Dawson and Bart Baker Era of pop culture here.

Chile, you thought you had one. He apologized for these tweets directly to Selena. The tweets were in poor taste but he was clearly trolling. He himself is only like 1 year older than Selena.

If Twitter was around when Eminem was in his prime, his grown ass would've been tweeting dumb **** too but he dead ass about it.

Oh so suddenly it's what makes the difference? A decision that wasn't depending on the artist? I thought it was about being young and apologizing? Make up your mind.

She apologized for being called out  for her Tumblr (which wasn't for shock value at all) but did she ever actually apologize to Normani?

Wow, it took him releasing a brand new album (a very viral one) to finally overtake Taylor for a few days, mind you, she's currently at her lowest streams per day in like 3 years so congrats, i guess. At least he could do it. Can't say the same about your fave

It comes off as racist and also - weren't the reason her albums streams did that because she 'was on tour'? Like, she's back on the road and she is decreasing. Worry about that and leave this man alone.
