I noticed that, unlike in years past, barely anyone went trick-or-treating this year. Why is that?

Election maybe?

Hope people are realising these "holidays" are boring repetitive fads. Christmas next! :cm:

@Janet is on the money with the election.

But actually in my area people really went all out there were so many halloween parties concurrently going on. Big crowds.

Too many wars, too much international tension, the global economy is s**t, more and more people are depressed, etc.

They weren't?

It was huge here. Saw tons of kids in costumes roaming the streets and the Halloween parties were also filled.

It's on a Thursday. It would smash if it were on Friday.

They wanna skip it coz they're excited for the Xmas spirit so they can blast and bop to Santa Tell Me.

Yeah it was the same here. Last year I ran out of candy to give out because there were so many kids. This year I've got so much candy leftover to eat :rip:

Real life is already Halloween

People wanted Halloween out of this way so they could get to Christmas and start streaming these classics again

Everyone was busy waiting for Ethel Cain's new single :gaycat5:

Many reasons....

Kids and teens are more preoccupied with smartphones and would rather stay home.

It's not safe and parents aren't always available to walk their kids around.

Candy doesn't appeal to kids like it used to.

Trunk or treat as completely sabotaged neighborhood trick or treating.

Parents are lazy and don't want to take their kids out.

It was alive and well here in Vancouver. And my friend group goes all out.

I will say though that it rains on pretty much every Halloween though, so there's that.
