Helix Posted October 31 Posted October 31 Some albums were met with harsh and negative critisicm from music critics or fans when first got released. But after a while a few of these albums developed some kind of cult following and got retrospective acclaim from journalists who once panned them. Which albums were misunderstood and too ahead of their time?

Lament Posted October 31 Posted October 31 Stripped is literally one of the most influential and best albums of the decade (if not more) and it got terrible reviews when it was released… 10
VeniceBeach Posted October 31 Posted October 31 Born To Die is the right answer, 62 on Metacritic, but then It was included on almost every list of the best albums of the decade 11
itshyolee Posted October 31 Posted October 31 Critics (and people in general) did this album so dirty back then Deserved the same acclaim as BRAT☹️ 2 5
BlahBlahBlah Posted October 31 Posted October 31 (edited) American Life by Madonna Definitely on the right side of history with that one. Edited October 31 by BlahBlahBlah 5 3
CocoPouf Posted October 31 Posted October 31 Born to Die and Xtina's records, critics are not here for her, which is weird, because she had quite a large fanbase during her peak (not now obvs) but she has several Grammys. Her career sometimes doesn't make sense lol.
Bey_Rihstan Posted October 31 Posted October 31 From a 62 on Metacritic to one of the most referenced R&B albums of the Century dfjhds 10 4
