B-Luke Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 Quote For all of CHROMAKOPIA's hitting-your-thirties ego death confessionals, it's the braggadocious, Cherry Bomb-sounding tracks that really hit: "Thought I Was Dead," "Rah Tah Tah," "NOID," and "Sticky." His rejection of the past is understandable. "That version of T that you knew was a memory," he says on "Tomorrow," anticipating the critiques: "Who is that? You niggas get too attached to hear the theory." Not too long ago, entire nations and commonwealths were terrified of Tyler because of his controversial lyrics. Then he started philosophizing and crooning about love and became a bit more brand-friendly. Few are as quick-witted in their raps as him, though. Fewer still have the kind of infectious arrogance that makes people want to bow down rather than roll their eyes. x
Badgalbriel Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 Is this the guy who wants to rape pregnant women? 2

psychodiva336 Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 In Chromakopia no one score is greater than another... ⚔️ 3

It's a great album but I don't think it's on the same level as Tyler's last three, and this doesn't seem to be an unpopular opinion among other long term fans.
king_queen Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 This deserves a 9. P4K shouldn't rate hip hop albums tbh 1

Mornings Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 The production is the best I've heard in a long time and I can't stand Pharrell's generally sparse annoying productions. And it's consistently good throughout the whole album. But I really hate when introspective albums turn preachy. Especially from men.
UnusualBoy Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 So according to them his album is just as good as the shat rapper?
Soda Pop Queen Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 (edited) This isn't a bad score but P4K hasn't been credible for ages and even back in their indie hipster prime, they were goofy. Edited October 31, 2024 by Soda Pop Queen
no_better Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 Pitchfork always seems to get it right with indie rock but with anything else... Not really
