First the dull, utterly uninspired iPhone 16 demonstration of "Dancing In The Flames". Then an extremely generic video for "Timeless", featuring the tired 'hot girls shaking their asses in skimpy lingerie' trope that you'd expect from tacky D-list rappers like Tyga, Young Nudy, and 6ix9ine. And now this cursed experience, which somehow ends up as the better of the bunch for having some memorable imagery... for better or worse. This is supposed to be the final chapter of the Weeknd project, yet everything is being so half-assed and lacking in cohesion and artistic vision, which is so uncharacteristic of how he's previously operated. To make matters even more frustrating, the music is leaving a lot to be desired in my opinion. "After Hours" and "Dawn FM" still remain among my favourite albums of the decade so far, but I have increasingly low expectations for this final installment of the trilogy. "São Paulo" had potential, and I think exploring Brazilian funk elements was an interesting fit for Abel, not to mention the huge opportunity for Anitta with this feature. But it's very by-the-numbers and predictable lyrically. As for the music video, I actually love Anitta's creepy visual here, but a proper storyline was crucial, as well as Abel actually bothering to make an appearance. As a bittersweet throwback, here's how a horror-themed The Weeknd music video should be done: ["In Your Eyes"] ["Too Late"] ["How Do I Make You Love Me?"] I wish that I could upvote this comment multiple times, cuz you hit the nail on the head. After his previous great eras, I'm not sure what is happening with Abel recently 3 dud videos in a row, and only one actual good song. DITF was generic and painfully reductive, and while I see some potential when it comes to SP (it's a decent track tbh, if I pretend I didn't see... that), it just doesn't deliver as hard as it should be. At least Timeless was a bop I guess 1

I am all here for body horror movies (and art in general) that are effectively gross, yet fascinating, but this video is just Anitta walking around the city at the night, while being pregnant with... Abel's mouth? It ends up being both nasty and boring at the same time - two of the worst worlds colliding. 1
MerveAksak Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 I really thought some OGHs would share disease video but even they cant do that

TouchinFree Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 Ummm wtf did i just watch? Like the song is perfect did you really have to ruin it? Im honestly starting to hate this overly demonic/dark and straight intentionally bad videos Hollyweird come up with. Like whatever happened to great storylines and slick dance breaks and old school cool videos? It's so weird that we used to be called paranoid back in the 2010's for analyzing "devilish" and "demonic" videos when you get releases like this every once a while. 2 2
Smarticle Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 it's like they watched The Substance and said we need to do something quick 1 2

Konril Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 What an unfortunate 3:30 minutes to have eyes.
Charmed Life Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 Possibly!!! and that song is awful too. 1
TipToe Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 It's funny to me how Anitta bombed the biggest chance of getting real global popularity by letting Weeknd his ridiculous ideas take control. She really don't have an ounce of artistry in her blood and just goes with the flow.
