I'm kinda expecting for the newer generations to do at least a little better than that 2
Mornings Posted October 30 Posted October 30 The worst part of coming out is the "we knew it" reactions like people were all betting on you. It's so weird and controlling and perverted 6

I'm kinda expecting for the newer generations to do at least a little better than that I do think things have changed somewhat for the better because people have been a lot less weird about the more recent stars who came up as teenagers like Olivia and the kid laroi and Billie. Billie really marked a shift and it was a fast shift too because people would be gross about her sometimes but it was a lot more heavily scrutinized with her than it was with previous stars and at the time Shawn was the only gen z pop star that existed until her and it so crazy to think that he was still a teenager when she blew up because treatment of them was like night day, he's literally only 3 years older than her. Most people would be in shock if the kid laroi or Olivia Rodrigo did anything like Shawn's flaunt magazine shoot where he was shirtless and had his pants unbuttoned or his Calvin Klein shoot but they are both older now than he was when he did those (he had been 18 for like 3 months when that shoot came out.) hell Billie was older than him when she did that lingerie shoot for vogue and that was seen as completely shocking to people. It's really fascinating watching how things have really changed it's like realizing Miley and Olivia were both the same ages when they released bangerz and guts. MusicLoverDude Posted October 30 Posted October 30 Honestly whatever he sees himself as, I just hope he's happy and continues to evolve as a person. It's wild that he talks about not experiencing or discovering parts of yourself at 15, when that was the year I came out (I'm 30 now). But everyone has a different journey. Everyone on here has picked on him relentlessly so I'm just rooting for him to be happy and come out fully when he's ready. 2
lonnie Posted October 30 Posted October 30 Gay men are horrible creatures. Some people do need time, however old they are, to be comfortable and at ease with their sexuality and themselves. Hopefully he has good friends surrounding him and a good support system 12 1 7

There are many gay celebrities, like Cooper Koch, who still attract interest from women because of their looks. The thing is, no one was really discussing Shawn or his music. I just checked his Spotify and only though he had released "Why Why Why." I didn't even know he had dropped two other songs from this upcoming album. His coming out and sharing his confusion about his sexuality is bound to spark conversation—something he could really use right now. 1
rzal Posted October 30 Posted October 30 It's giving queerbait after flop. And I'm sorry but I will never understand grown people being confused about their sexualities. 1 2 2

And that "not approving oversexual representation of gay men" = trying to get approval from straights? because male sexuality has been suppressed by society for an incredibly long time in favor of toxic masculinity. they arent any more sexual or half naked than their straight male or female counterparts. y'all just hate it cause it's queer. do some soul searching. there is not one singular "image of the gay man" and trying to police that is at the behest of the oppressive majority (heterosexuals). pls read up about respectability politics. 3

Pavement Princess Posted October 31 Posted October 31 This man has said multiple times he is not gay. If anything the "I'm still figuring out" is more indicative of the confusion I'm sure he feels from constantly being told about his own sexuality. I'd be confused as hell too if I told the world time and time one thing and people still told me I was another. It really shouldn't matter unless you guys are personally ******* him. 1 1
