I think his label didn't let him come out yet so it won't hurt his career, but now that he's not pulling big numbers anymore he wants to express his feelings and have more freedom. Sending love and strength to him.

Been seeing some comments mocking him for not having it all figured out, which is sad.

 

After Liam Payne's death especially can we please acknowledge what the machine of the entertainment industry does to young people, who are often emotionally infantilised by their disrupted adolescence, while simultaneously being presented to the public as hyper-adult and sexual by the record labels.

 

It's no wonder it's taken him a while to discover. There's been a lot more pressure placed on him than there was on any of us.

I felt so pressured to come out at a young age from schoolmates, certain family members etc I can't imagine the pressure of the so many people calling for you to reveal your sexuality.

Most people (including ATRLers) erase people who aren't gay or straight, which is annoying. Shawn himself rn seems to understand more than some users in here about sexuality being something complex

I mean that's literally what they were doing with Shawn. more recently it's been people around his but when he first debuted it was primarily people 10+ years older than him it's kinda insane looking back at forums and posts from 2014-16 how accepted it was for literal adults to openly discusss and lust after teenage celebrities even just beyond Shawn and sexuality, like even farther back the things people were saying about Justin when he was a teenager and even Miley, Demi, Selena, and the Jonas brothers is crazy
