I can't imagine still figuring out my sexuality at his age during this time in history. But he reminds me of Ian Thorpe who was an Olympic swimmer who didn't come out for a very long time despite the same type of speculation. It was no surprise when he came out but the relentless speculation was what kept him in the closet longer because he was afraid of backlash for having "deceived" people.
