Albums that were huge at the time of release, but failed to have longevity/impact?

Don't know if she has some shooters on here, but I say "Come Away With Me" by Norah Jones.

This album is certified diamond and sold over 27 million copies worldwide, yet I never hear anybody reference this album or talk about it (if I'm wrong, feel free to correct me but :suburban:)

That record in particular: is not music to influence. This is music played in patisseries, train stations, elevators... Ambient music that sounds good as a background. I bet everyone has listened or is familiar with 5 or 6 songs. Well, if you are the kind of person who goes out.

I'm convinced there's a copy of that album in some form in most households.

Not only did it sell extremely well, it was also showered in awards. It also set her up for a successful career and she's still producing music.

I'd say she and it have had longevity lol

Dido albums. It's a shame because her 2 first album are full of gems.

That album does have longevity & it had impact. This site downplays "easy listening" music and genres that can fall into that for some reason and I don't know why.

This is the music that can and is played pretty much everywhere, and it is. My parents bought it on CD when it was released, and I got my own copy of it when I started buying CDs with my own money.

It's a well collected album, it's also audiophile bait because of how well engineered it is. I believe the real time success can also be contributed to it being a counter to what was popular at the time. You'd have to listen to a 2003ish playlist of radio hits to get the context. Average human likes balance in their music listening and the album dropped at the right time to stand out.

She is to 2003 what Adele was to 2011 lol.

How do you know that the 40 year olds who purchased the album back in the day don't talk about it regularly during wine outings or drives to the countryside?

Taylor's 1989.

I fear this album was a 2015 fad

Indeed. It has 1.7B streams on Spotify, which for 2003 standards is fantastic, especially considering she hasnt been present on the mainstream public eye in like... decades now.

Midnights and TTPD are the obvious ones.

The Norah slander in the OP is completely unwarranted, everyone knows multiple songs off that album, and the album itself is a classic :rip:

Come Away With Me is still remembered. Not only did it sweep the Grammys with 5 wins but Don't Know Why has over 500 million streams
