this gaga's abysmal month just show us how important it is to have a diverse career

if she was ONLY a popstar that makes pop music for the gays, she would be over for real. but thankfully the minivan moms are currently streaming the hell out of DWAS.

oh, and it's also over for jazz, it worked in the past but not anymore.

i don't see her acting career as a side project, she takes it seriously, so she better hurry with her next acting gig.

on the other side, i do think she should just release the pop album and after that -- release as a single the song that GP likes the most

if she keeps releasing singles prior to it will only make people less interested it seems. :gaycat6:

Even Stupid Love received 3.3M streams its third day. That's a 1.1M difference :deadbanana:

At this point her album won't even debut Top 10. :rip:

She needs to make a collaboration album to include all her duets.

Lady Gaga: Partners

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, the album will probably go #1 but if Disease doesn't become a hit, they need to release something that will, otherwise the longevity of the album will compromised.

Meghan Trainor being a more reliable hitmaker than GaGa in the 2020s oh now THAT's a peer :giraffe:

As far as I understand, any debut below No. 1 will be considered a phenomenal failure. It will also be THE GIFT for her fans, which they should fully appreciate. :fan:

Lil Nas X with 18+ weeks says hi. Manipulation to gain a cheap price never cute.

I was thinking the same thing.

Even Britney was still releasing quality up till Femme Fatale (her 7th album too)

It seem like Gaga lost her finger on the pulse of the culture and it's so sad cause she's truly one of the most talented pop stars.

It feels to me like she has nothing else to say, her career was built on pushing boundaries and her music having a message. Madonna was singing about war, religion and feminism while still making catchy music.  Beyonce released Lemonade and Renaissance that delve into racial inequality but still gave them a hook or make them catchy.

This new song to me feels like a BTW track that didn't make the cut, it's flat both musically and lyrically. I had to listen to it 5 times before I even remembered how it went. I don't know why people kept saying the old Gaga was back just cause it's a slightly darker sound. If you compare it to Monster, Sheisse, Government Hooker, Bloody Mary and pretty much all of BTW it's truly night and day

This, pretty much.

The song isn't bad but it also isn't giving us much more to appreciate about Lady Gaga the pop icon than we already had (and with greater artistic success, too).

Gaga is at her best when she's going against the grain (her own or society's) OR when she's using the tenants of guilty-pleasure-pop but twisting them a bit to craft something out-of-this-world like Bad Romance. Even Perfect Illusion, though not beloved by everyone, was a fabulous update to her style because it was different from anything she (or any of her peers) had done. But both Stupid Love and Disease merely sound like attempts to remind us of who she is, or was, without adding much extra to the recipe. We all know she's grown as an artist since 2011 yet Disease sounds like something she perhaps wouldn't have included on Born This Way (if only for the fact that even its album tracks are better).

Perhaps the best part of the song is the extra bite her vocals give now and it goes a long way, her voice is perhaps the most interesting part of the song. I just wish that she had capitalized on more than that, and delivered something that showcases what she's learnt and the maturity of her art, rather than peppering it in for seasoning. Her artistic skill (vocally and with the pen) should have been the sole focus.

I expect there will be at least a couple tracks I like on the album, but this lead single isn't presenting that.
