Cain Posted October 26 Posted October 26 Just now, genio said: That's literally a fine debut, why are we pretending anything else? I don't understand. Gaga still has the biggest song in the world right now with "Die With A Smile" pulling 11m streams on Spotify and topping the Global Apple Music and YouTube streaming charts. I am not a big fan of Disaster, but I think it's a typical Gaga lead single and she's been in this industry for more than 15 years now. If considering all of that, the streams of Disaster are fine. The numbers are definitely not as terrible as some try to spin it in here. Bruno, who is coincidentally also on DWAS, has the biggest song in the world rn #ThankYouBruno 1 4 1

swissman Posted October 26 Posted October 26 (edited) 19 minutes ago, Windy Day said: mind you beyoncé's last lead single debuted with LESS than disease even though she got superbowl promo Sure, but we should also acknowledge that TEXAS HOLD 'EM debuted at #4 on the same Spotify chart with slightly less streams than this one that debuted at #12 with a bit more streams, and the reason is that TEXAS HOLD 'EM's first day of streaming was a Monday, not a Friday, when streams altogether are considerably less. brutal Posted October 26 Posted October 26 (edited) Why do Liddos keep running with the lie that this outdebuted Texas Hold 'Em? The receipts from Spotify are there themselves: https://charts.spotify.com/charts/view/regional-global-daily/2024-02-12 https://charts.spotify.com/charts/view/regional-global-daily/latest Texas Hold 'Em - 4,537,700 Disease - 4,452,496 And mind you Texas' debut day isn't even in its top 5 biggest days Edited October 26 by brutal 11 2
Me & My Hits Posted October 26 Posted October 26 It looks like having the "biggest song of the year" didn't help her much

What she did was allude to new music coming out. It was never named. No streaming service was cited. It would have been entirely up to the viewer to then go find out what she was talking about, if it was real. Not to mention, 123.7 million viewers were there to watch the Super Bowl, not to find out what to stream the next day. Edited October 26 by swissman 1 2 1

Rotunda Posted October 26 Posted October 26 3 minutes ago, Windy Day said: 123.7 million viewers watched beyoncé announce her single live on TV!! she could have debuted with more tbh This ignores that: 1- Bey has historically been a stronger force than Gaga on Apple Music, given it's a more Black-oriented streaming platform in America. 2- The Super Bowl itself is the biggest cultural event of the year, and most folks aren't going to interrupt their enjoyment of it to stream Bey's music. The ad worked because it made folks aware a new era was starting, which is why the song continued to grow post-debut.
simplywohoo Posted October 26 Posted October 26 The numbers are good actually. It's just very competitive rn Especially since it's quite an unusual sound for today's music scene If the fans will buy, ms gar could have another top 10 in the bag

As I said prior, first day numbers mean nothing. We all know how much Spotify pushed Taylor like hell with her last 2 albums, not invalidating her success, but Fortnight isnt some monumental hit. 1 3
