EXACTLY. I mean Gaga only truly became popular in the US in 2009 and the previous year you had songs like 4 Minutes and Womanizer becoming huge hits. Katy Perry herself made it big in the US a little bit before Gaga, IKAG and Hot and Cold were already massive hits by the time Just Dance and Poker Face started exploding.

 

Gaga never made dance pop popular again, it was already on the way up, she just capitalized on it massively. And that's ok but the way people rewrote history about the dance pop explosion is beyond annoying
