Kim Petras reveals she's unable to release TOTL 3

I feel like it's more the label itself than Luke in this case? But either way it sucks, it's just sad to see what her career has become under Republic/Amigo. Not staying independent was her biggest mistake.

Would the Butt Slutt chanteuse lie? I think not! Open the gates and liberate her.

I thought she was also under Republic? Anyhow, I get why they arent letting her drop another album. Literally every single project she ever released was a complete flop. From a business pov you can conclude it doesn't make sense to continue dropping albums without a hit.

But it's funny to see how the tables have turned

She hasn't even released anything new though, so how are they going to get a hit? Unless it's that they just don't believe in the material

It's genuinely puzzling to me that they let her release **** Pop Miami yet no mercy for TOTL :skull:

I don't know what's going on with Kim's contracts but, as per usual, she has to, for some reason, be dealt with the brunt of Luke's behaviours as if they were her own.

Also the way people use the term "rape aplogist" on here is absolutely bewildering and disgusting, and actually incredibly hurtful and demeaning given there are people who actually, vocally, accuse Kesha of being a liar. All she said was that she'd had a different experience with Luke than Kesha had, and who knows under what pressure or influence she felt she needed to say that.

This site pretends like they're contract lawyers who have been privy to all documentation and official meetings and are therefore justified to make solidified opinions on her situation. Really all they know is rumours and gossip which they project onto a foreign trans girl trying to have a pop career.

Poor Kim Petty

I feel a certain way about her but label issues are a b!tch and sad to hear, always. I hope she can let her fans in a bit more so they are in the know of what's actually going on. :cm: If it's Dr. Luke related I can't say I am surprised. Ashamed, which is the word she used, is a strong one...

again? im not going thru this bs after the mess that was 'finally kim petras debut album is here' eras. disagree on dr puke claimed since label already know the deal long ago, but likely chance is puke behind the scene to get her back in studio after new boyfriend thing.

I mean two songs from sIut pop are on their way to become her first solo songs with 100M streams on Spotify they even have more daily listeners than Alone :rip:

I mean… her last projects have all flopped and she has only had one proper solo hit - Malibu - in recent history. It's quite likely that they won't let her release another album unless she produces up enough material with the potential to be a hit.

I wish she stayed independent because 2019 was truly amazing, Era 1 completing, Clarity and TOTL Vol 2 all in a row

This could be a label issue too? Although she's Kim Petras, if they're waiting for her to score a hit, they're in for a rude awakening...

Am I supposed to feel sorry for that young woman?

Major label is stopping her? But then she could still release it as mixtape the same way Charli XCX released hers

I believe even Charli's mixtapes needed the green light from her label, they just agreed to allow it without giving her things like a marketing budget or physical copies.

This is my understanding too. The record label will claim ownership of everything you record while you are signed to the label. When the label allows you to release a mixtape, they are saying something like "you have a five album contract and we are not going to count this mixtape as one of your five albums, and we are not going to promote this one either".

Or they can impose some other conditions or just block it altogether.
