Timeless Posted October 25 Posted October 25 HER BEST ALBUM OF ALL TIME, AND THE RE-RECORDING MADE IT EVEN BETTER. NO ALBUM WILL EVER TOP THIS MASTERPIECE 2 1
blown away Posted October 25 Posted October 25 (edited) Beautiful album, still her best work. The 1-2-3 punch of Mine, Sparks Fly and Back To December + Dear John, Enchanted, Haunted, If This Was A Movie, Ours... She has so many gems on this album. Edited October 25 by blown away 3 1
Torment Posted October 25 Posted October 25 My favorite album of hers tbh. Sparks Fly, Enchanted, Haunted, Back to December and Mine, I could keep going tbh. I love so many songs off Speak Now
Peak Now Posted October 25 Author Posted October 25 A brief recap of the singles from this era: The lead single, "Mine". Leaked about 2 weeks in advance which made her miss out on a #1 debut and really ramp up the security of her vault. Critics at the time hailed this as a step up thematically from Fearless. The second single was "Back to December", perhaps the best remembered single from the album these days. This should have ended the "Taylor should write a song called 'Maybe I'm The Problem'" jokes but reading comprehension isn't for everyone, I guess. So this is for the boy from Michigan... The third single, "Mean". That critic remains an OTH to this day so she must've struck a nerve... The fourth single, "The Story of Us". This is one of her worst performing singles chart-wise (being dropped more or less together with Mean didn't help) which is a damn shame, she was channelling her inner Paramore here. The fifth single, "Sparks Fly". A absolute CRIME that this got the tour video treatment and it was only a fifth single, given that this was a fan favorite even before Fearless came out and she basically had to include it on the album because the Swiffers were getting very annoying about it. (Lowkey I think Taylor sometimes forgets Mine exists and that this was the lead single... she opened the Speak Now tour with Sparks Fly and announced Speak Now TV with an acoustic performance of Sparks Fly ) The sixth and final single (and one from the deluxe version), "Ours". A cute ditty but one that makes me wish I wasn't as obsessed as I am because knowing that this song is about John Mayer...
americanlife Posted October 25 Posted October 25 Love this album. The amount of artistic growth shown on her third album

The amount of artistic growth shown on her third album I also think she definitely took singing lessons around this time, just compare fan videos from the Fearless tour to the Speak Now tour... Mr. Duff Posted October 25 Posted October 25 Some of her best written songs are in this album (and I'm not talking about overrated Enchanted): Haunted Mine Back to December Last Kiss Long Live If This Was a Movie (yes this is a SN baby despite what Taylor did to it and it's a brilliant track!) And vault tracks Timeless, Electric Touch and Castles Crumbling are all 10/10! Happy 14 years, Speak Now! 1
aotwbys Posted October 25 Posted October 25 Wow, I had no idea Speak Now stans were so passionate damn 1
Katamari Posted October 25 Posted October 25 (edited) Never grow up back to December Mean my trinity Edited October 25 by Katamari
Brooklyn Baby Posted October 25 Posted October 25 A top 4 TS album far better than her last two efforts and she wrote this at 19
Sad Serenade Posted October 26 Posted October 26 It's her best album and totally self written which is actually impressive for her young age at that time. Enchanted, Dear John, Back To December, Mine, Long Live, Last Kiss, Ours, The Story Of Us...It's filled of masterpieces and classics that will never be topped.
gagacasanova Posted October 26 Posted October 26 An underrated gem in her discography. SO many classics. The Story Of Us definitely lands in my top 10 of all her songs.
